What do you make of Ramsey Clark?
Edited on Tue Dec-02-03 12:00 PM by Minstrel Boy
My opinion's only half-formed. Help me form the other half.

Is he a good guy? Do you think he's a "stooge" of the far left? A disruptive infiltrator of the right?

How sincere is his radicalization since his days as Lyndon Johnson's Attorney-General, and what's its motivation? Or is he COINTELPRO's greatest asset? As this article phrases it, is Clark a "Stalinist dupe or ruling-class spook?" http://shadow.autono.net/sin001/clark.htm

Does he still swear by the Clark Panel, which upheld the finding of the Warren Commission? He was Attorney-General when Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy were killed. Does he still hold the political assassinations of the leading liberals of the era to have been the random acts of lone gunmen?

1. he is not a good guy
the guy supports every authoritarian in the book.

No clear thinking liberal or democrat should associate with him or his comrades

3. Not entirely sure
I don't know. He's done some good things, but I've seen people suggest what you're suggesting, and other things, like an unusual association with Lyndon LaRouche. Just something someone at a protest proclaimed as he was pushing his paper.

Here's an unflattering piece: http://www.salon.com/news/feature/1999/06/21/clark/

6. All of the above?
I know Ramsey has done some good things, but his defense of those who committed and supported the Rwandan genocide was just too much for me to have a favourable opinion of him.

7. Good Intentions on the Road to Hell
He's cuckoo. Out to lunch.

I think his fundamental ideas are admirable, but the manner in which they are implemented and the people whom they directly and indirectly benefit (Slobodan Milosevic, Radovan Karadzic, Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong Il, Rev. Elizaphan Ntakirutimana) render his fundamental ideas corrupt in my opinion.
