Here's a gem: NOW w/ Bill Moyers' selected reading list
Lot's of good books on this list. Including my current read "Who Killed Daniel Pearl?" by Bernard Henri-Levy. I'll also tack on Levy's interview transcript and my post about the book from yesterday.

4. Levy Was A Great Guest
Saw the interview live. Funny how US media never reported that Daniel Pearl's hotel was crawling with ISI.

5. Seven down so far...
Perhaps I'll finish the rest by the time the 2010 book list comes out! :silly:

6. Thank you!
What a terrific list: Elaine Pagels, Walter Mosely, Isabelle Allende, and on and on...

7. I've always wanted to read Allende. Just haven't gotten to it yet
Regarding the earlier reply about Pearl's hotel crawling with ISI, it's just frightening how little Americans get from the media. We are so in the dark. Last year when I worked for a paper -AZ Daily Wildcat- as a columnist I recieved e-mails from a few different countries from people just aghast at how oblivious Americans are. I swear the incognizance in this country is beyond belief.

8. It frightens me
how many americans are so self satisfied their worldview never venture much further than the local mall.

I've always enjoyed reading stuff from all over the world and learning about other places. I have a hard time indentifying with people who don't share that basic curiosity about their fellow man. There are 6 billion of us afterall.
