2. Fortunately, Google's owners are said to be fairly liberal and
decent people. On the other hand, Goggle is undergoing a transformation, and it was rumored that Microsoft was seeking to acquire it. If Microsoft DID get its hands on Google one day, GOD HELP US.

5. Google is far from the only search engine
www.alltheweb.com is almost as good.

People use Google because it is the best at digging up the obscurities of the internet -- as once AltaVista was.

Yahoo and Microsoft are going to be more than enough competition to keep each other honest. Only a fascist government could lock them all down.

10. Google, a privacy disaster waiting to happen
I have my own personal grudge against Google for their archiving/caching policies. Google is a personal privacy disaster waiting to happen. Somebody needs to sue them and shut their website caching and Google Groups archives down for good.

Now, Daniel Brandt who runs Google Watch has his own reasons for not liking Google, which has to do with their website ranking algorythm. That's not why I have a grudge against Google, but the more the merrier.

If the Bush/Ashcroft regime were to try and invent the ultimate data mining system and computerized dossier for the FBI to keep easily searchable dossiers on every American, they wouldn't have to, because Google has already done it.

Use www.teoma.com instead.

11. Google is a wealthy, powerful corporation
Don't be fooled by any word-of-mouth marketing that they are a "liberal" corporations or any such nonsense. The amount of data they have on individual Americans is *priceless* to the intelligence community, and they have no problems with selling that data to whomever pays the most.
