So, how much flak will Captain DeLay take for "The Hate Boat"?
Using a foreign cruise ship as a floating hotel of evil for the Republican Convention in New York is getting some resistance--as it should--from a few quarters. Will Pataki chide his party over this? Will they decide to withdraw the proposal?

Has anyone run the numbers on the tax savings for the freeloaders? Has anyone run the numbers for the clean-up and police costs with which the greedheads will soak the city?

Predictions, anybody?

1. I hope they stick to the plan and that the mutant sheep which seem to
make up much of the populace sees these evildoers for who they really are: sleazy hypocritical, of-, by- and for-the-rich slime.

2. Well...
...maybe the ship will have a 247 in the air patrol and no-fly zone, like the aircraft carrier Bush slept in at the G8 convention (just months before 911) because they were afraid someone would hijack a plane and use it as a missle. Then they can observe offshore as they let another attack happen and just declare martial law.

7. "Captain" DeLay was dealt a pretty good broadside by the NY Times
editorial page today. I read it with great pleasure:

New York's landlubbers find it more ludicrous than insulting that Tom DeLay, the majority leader of the House of Representatives, may offer to house hundreds of solons, fat-cat donors and lobbyists in a luxury cruise ship off the Manhattan shore during next summer's Republican National Convention. If he prevails over growing G.O.P. embarrassment at such a floating symbol of gated plutocracy, we urge Mr. DeLay to forgo any "Master and Commander" regalia he may have in mind. Instead, the flinty Texan should borrow Nathan Detroit's double-breasted pinstripes to come ashore from the newest established permanent floating avoidance game in New York.

10. It's already over. No cruise ship. The other Reps in congress
have aleady taken DeLay to task. They are extremely well aware of the message such a thing would send. I don't have a link as this information was developed personally by making a few phone calls.

That ain't Republican. Start listening to dissent, who knows what'll happen. Positively sissified.

12. Is this recycled news?
I'm sure thia idea was floated a month or so ago, and then withdrawn in the face of criticism from the hotel industry and general ridicule in the press. What's going on with this crowd?
