I can't wait for the Dean campaign to hit 150,000 on Meetup! Looks like the viewers on Matthews' Hardball liked Dean and decided to throw their support his way. I hope we'll reach 150,000 before our Meetup on Wednesday :bounce:

How many mailing lists did shrub's campaign need to buy to get that many, I wonder?

2. *snickers*
Their idea of getting 6,000,000 probably means asking ALL the Republicans in Congress to donate their e-mail lists ;-)

8. Not that many.
The NRA list alone should give them a couple of million.

19. 1,953 for Bush, according to Meetup.com
vs. 149,307 for Dean.

176 in NY compared to Dean's 7,320.

3. I'm sure that all those techies couldn't possibly b using multiple signups
they do have time to create laotian acrobats for Dean websites in lighting time

can someone bring pictures from the seven thousand people showing up at big apple meetings?

5. 7000??? I never heard that...
There are 19 Different meetups in New York, so perhaps 1000 or 2000 over all the meetups, but I've never heard a 7000 figure. I gotta figure out which of the 19 meetups to attend tomorrow...figured I'd go and see what it was about.

a school of 1000 south koreans can sign up for a topeka kansas meetup 5 times each

it's meaningless

20. Nah, it's not that easy to pretend to be someone else
And it's pretty fruitless to try, actually. Not that big a payoff, is there? Plus, it only makes Dean look stronger and stronger (which is, of course, exactly what he is).

BTW, I've seen MANY 1,000 signup days before. It's exciting, for sure.

New York has 7000 and gorwing all over the state. THey are filling entire clubs in some areas.

Here in my city we've broken into 6 or 7 groups because so many people show up that there isn't enough room for them...

This was our 2nd or 3rd meetup... started with 15 people, then 50 , then 80...

Then we split off into two groups, one at the coffee shop and one at this sports bar...

Then we filled that place up and broke into 3 more groups... and so on.

At last count we're just under 1600 people.

Oh BTW here is a new york meet up...an early one.

Very small and undeveloped... then we put them into crates, like veal, where they are fed on nothing but granola and dean speeches.

17. That is the "official" number
from meetup.com. I'll bet we are already over 150,000.

My meet up venue just became "official" last week, although we have been meeting for months. Then there are the four other venues in my county that do not have "official" status.

Meetup.com is a pain in the ass.

You just came up with the best argument AGAINST the 80's (you left our Michael Jackson and blue eye shadow though)! :-)

At least the 70's saw a Democrat in the White House! (There's more, but that will do, in light of Reagan and Bush dominating the 80's, lol)

Always wanted to see his bust apart against the wall though.... he was made of glass after all.

See all the red kool-aid leaking out through big cracks and Kool-aid man says "OH NOOoo!"
