Christian Right's Tollerence for Bush
I do not understand the strength Bush seems to have with some Christian groups, the 'Christian Right' as I see them called so often. Most of the deeply devout people I know also have a streak of humanity about them but for some reason they don't, or won't apply it to Bush. The man's policys, and more often his lack of policys, have resulted in uncounted cases of poverty and death, untold stories of misery. Africa, the great dark continent, is quickly becomming the land of the walking dead, Iraquis have died in the tens of thousands this year alone, AIDS is rampant, and I don't mean in Niarobi, I mean in Chicago.

So I'd think that on humanitarian grounds alone those of strong belief would have already abandoned Bush. Why haven't they?

Thom

God Bless Robert Byrd

1. vouchers and "faith based" funds for their private all white church
schools would be one reason.

3. belief zombies?
They believe whatever they are told to believe no matter how outrageous. How else cold such a large group of people (the "Christian Right") be so narrow-minded and dogmatic?

7. I think you hit the nail on the head...the pro-life movement is like one
of Shrubby's photo=ops, or the Michael Jackson/Laci Peterson/latest distraction 'news'stories...
it distracts the sheep from thinking about the other evils that are being perpetrated by this cretin and his ilk, because they are so caught up in their own self-righteousness in wanting to stop abortions.
Satan's laughing with delight over that one, I am convinced...

6. I have pondered
that very question for a long time. Sometimes I think maybe a lot of them are merely paying lip service to him. Maybe at the ballot box they will vote otherwise. Fundies have their own definition of what is good and what is evil. it is all black and white and humanity seems to have nothing to do with it. Frankly, I think it gives Christianity a bad name and as far as other religions go, a bad taste in the mouth. When one puts good and evil over humanity, religion can certainly become a cult. It is sickening to me that so many of them seem to think a blowjob in the WH is more serious than poverty and war.

Those jokes and cartoons referring to fundies as America's Taliban were absolute bullseyes.

10. "Forced Parenthood Movement" would be a more accurate term
since they would require a rape victim to bear the rapists' child.

If they were pro-life,
they would not support the death penalty
or Bush's wars.

12. Churches have filled them with the idea
That they are the one's who are going to heaven and everyone else are heathen infidels. And are taught in too simplistic terms.

I was taught many years ago that if you were a "real" christian ( by that being self- sacrificial and doing on earth as in heaven) it was a long hard road and you didn't exactly get the good things in life because when you do, the first instinct is to help others with it.

Today's christians are taught that all you have to do is pray, go to this church, and give them money. They have also turned into political forums for the right wing.
