Some troops not happy with "historic" visit
http://www.stripesonline.com/article.asp?section=104&article=19079

ARLINGTON, Va. — Amid the fanfare of his surprise visit to Baghdad on Thanksgiving, some soldiers were not all that happy with the President Bush’s pop-in, and some felt gypped out of a Thanksgiving meal

1. It was nothing but a staged, manipulated event to trick
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 12:47 AM by rumguy
soldiers into cheering wildly for him in front of cameras, with a plastic turkey he could easily pick up and hold like a moron for a few seconds in front of troops who were wondering what the hell he was doing cradling a platic bird, smiling like a dipshit...one giant, staged photo op...brilliant, but a fraud, like the man himself...

3. How long was he there?
At first I was like, "Wow, the President is actually sacrificing his Thanksgiving and risking his life in Baghdad." But truth be told, he was never in Baghdad, he was at Baghdad International Airport, and was back at his ranch the SAME day so he could finish Thanksgiving comfortably. And to think about all that jet fuel he burned for a single day visit...

14. and he served the troops their food for what? ten minutes??
Hilary Clinton, in contrast, actually sat down to dinner with the troops in Afghanistan and was in country there all day. The next day, she and Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) were in Baghdad talking with various kinds of people, Iraqi and American.

:kick:

2. Now we're told that soldiers were preselected and notified in advance?
Gee. Early versions of the story indicated that the soldiers were quite surprised by his appearance.

Let's see:

A British Airways pilot sighted AF1/no such sighting occurred

Chimpy and aides knew of the sighting as it was happening/they weren't told about it until the return trip from Baghdad

The soldiers were not told who would be having Thanksgiving dinner with them/they were notified in advance that the chimp would be there

What next? The whole thing was staged inside a hangar at Roswell???

11. Was it plastic?
Or just a waste of a real turkey, dressed up for a big meal photo shoot but not actually carved and served?

6. Hand picked crowds..............
are Bush's trademark. "The soldiers who dined while the president visited were selected by their chain of command, and were notified a short time before the visit, said Olinger and Capt. David Gercken, a 1st AD spokesman".

Yes, our warrior pResident always plays to "hand picked" crowds ensuring that no one is able to dissent.

What a fucking insecure coward. They must make sure that EVERY photo-op is prestaged and filled with Bushbots. The "free speech" zones are now included among his "army men" war toys.

13. Not to help Bush but soldiers are always hand-picked for VIP visits
regardless of who's coming. They always pick sharp-looking troops who will do the corps proud in photo and in talk.

It's just normal MO.

8. It's *all* illusion with this dipshit. There is *nothing* real about him!
Hell, he isn't even the legit president.

But the RW machine and media will keep reeling out these phoney, feel-good tableaus for the masses, who eat this crap up with a spoon because they're told to, over and over.

10. I knew it..
I knew those "oridinary soldiers" had to be screened and preselected. Just like I know this story will be ignored by the media...
