Drudge: New Eminem Song Wishes President Dead
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 01:36 AM by tritsofme
(lets try this again shall we? 3rd time's a charm)
A new shock song from rapper Eminem wishes the president dead, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned...

On the track WE AS AMERICANS, obtained by DRUDGE, the nation's top selling rapper shockingly rants: (expletive removed) money. I don't rap for dead presidents. I'd rather see the president dead. It's never been said, but I set precedents and the standards and they can't stand it'...

http://drudgereport.com/

The guy tells it like he sees it, I have to give him that. How long until the freeper types stage another one of their "succesful" boycotts?

17. Even when
the expletive is from a quoted piece, or lyrics of a song? Are you sure about that?

And if that's the case, how has that thread about the "ratfuck" article been able to stay afloat? Just wondering.

7. I don't quite get what is so big about the story.
Eminem will be Dixie Chicked by the right. The lyric doesn't look all that eloquent or subtle, so I can't get too worked up about that. It's not as though he's putting his neck on the line by saying something that HAS TO BE SAID. Maybe there are braver lyrics to the song that make it more worthy of becoming a cause celebre?

24. Maybe. But the bit I saw was not genius.
There are plenty of working class geniuses who could say something a lot more to the point than "I wish the president was dead" and leave it at that. I mean that's not a terribly intelligent thing to say about what it means to be a working class person in Bush's America.

from the inevitable inquisition, ominous vans, FBI/SS questions.

Ashcroft must be fuming mad - some former Christians have been known to DANCE and/or DRINK and/or SMOKE to the foul music of this devil!

Meanwhile, I was wondering if I'd be crucified for video parodies featuring a Bushbaby in flag diapers stepping on a mine that has IRAQ written on it.

Note to Sekrit Service: metaphor. not threat. I'm not the one leaving unexploded ordinance about the countryside.

Any station that plays Eminem caters to young people. Young people love Eminem's music and all a boycott would do is cause more sales and defiance by the youth.

Spears, etc. He stands on his own. And he has a message, an uplifting one, for those who take the time to listen to an album from end to end. Like it or not, he is the Bob Dylan of this generation.

than you don't have to like him. Plenty don't, than again millions do, and they may not agree with his position but it will make the freepers think about this adminstration and what they really stand for. Eminem deserves credit for putting himself one the line this way.

12. I see nothing illegal in Eminem's lyrics. Of course, I realize the Bush
Gestapo can make and break the rules - but they'd probably have to do just that to nail Eminem.

I've said similar things on my website, and people claim they've reported me to the Secret Service. One ISP dumped my website, claiming it violated the Patriot Act, but I got it back online the next day, and no one's ever come knocking at my door.

If Eminem REALLY wants to get some publicity, he'll come out with a really tacky song that sticks it to both Bush and Reagan!

13. I'm glad he dislikes Bush BUT
this guy lost me when he started picking fights with Moby and running from a plastic puppet (the glorious Triumph, slayer of O'Reilly on NPR). Thing that ticks me about eminem is not his music but the fact that the dude takes himself too seriously. He isn't that good (he's no KRS One etc) and the media dance around him like he this generations Bob Dylan... gimmie a break...
that said Kudos for trashing Bush although wishing him dead is kind of stupid and he will end up changing that.

he's speaks to people our age as well. You have to listen closely to his albums...he's not the monster some make him out to be. He's good guy all around. He kept his same manager from when he was an Indy rapper, and he helped all his friends make an album after he "made it". He still lives in Detroit. There's a lot of substance there....

Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 02:14 AM by minkyboodle
and I don't think he is a monster at all. I don't know how to describe it, I've just gotten tired of him recently. Seems like the same message over and over again and I kind of feel like he has found a formula for success and is milking for whats its worth. You know what I liked from him and hope he does a little more of, is the D-12 album (those are basically his friend from D-Town on there right). He is so morose all the time, at least his media image is, that it was nice to hear him get back to the less melodramatic fun stuff. I do have to say though that video of him on the road (song with the Aerosmith sample) is a straight ripoff of any number of Poison videos of the 80s :D Still he should give Triumph the exclusive interview and let Moby do whatever the hell it is that Moby does.. :toast:

28. I agree, he is a smart guy. I just can't think of anyone else that...
puts so much of their personal life into their songs. Like him or not his music transcends age, gender, race, and culture, he has a clear and intelligent message. I think that saying he is this generation's Bob Dylan is correct. Sure Bob sung about peace, but, unfortunately. this is a time of aggression. He is say what needs to be said and for that he is a real American hero and he has my support.

38. Eminem
Advocating violence negates any point you are trying to make. He would be better off addressing issues rather than people. He simply doesn't know the issues, so he bashes the people - he simply isn't informed enough to address political issues. Instead he brings political commentary to the lowest-common denominator - which is trying to be a thug.
When he got all pissed at Triumph the insult dog, that made me see Eminem's pretty much a complete jackass who can dish it but can't take it.
I pretty much dug that track "White America" off his last album. And i remember him having a couple words about Dick Cheney, but to stoop to the level of threatening physical harm - that negates his point because what he advocates is force - which is just what Dick Cheney advocates.

52. Unfortunately our nation is going through an agressive phase
As much as I love sweet music, and the likes of the Beatles and Dylan, Americas youth is more aggressive than my parents' generation. Right now people are SUPPOSED TO BE PISSED OFF! How else would we get the energy to change things? Right now the nation is going through a really rough phase, people are hurting, they are mistreated, and they are being ignored. Eminem is light a spark underneath us, letting us know that we have to put aside our petty shit and fight the real enemy. To any freepers that might be reading this, the enemy is not you! The enemies are these giant mega conglomerate cooperations that are systematically turning us into slaves. Eninem reminds people that they are alive, so whether you like him or not, that is your business. But if you dismiss him just because it is not your type of music, you are not only missing out on some of the most inspired musical work in the last ten years, you are not paying attention to the people and world around you. This is a movement baby and Eninem just took a big fucking step! God Bless Him.

53. Wrong, he addresses lots of important issues from a personal
standpoint...It's not a political book he's writing...he gets at it from a POV that is personal...and emotional...rather than intellectual.

57. I don't know if that was genuine or sarcastic...
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 02:55 AM by rumguy
But his rapping about his mother, and his time growing up, was his take on a time in his life that was filled with turmiol and pain, part of a broader cultural and social expierence that does have big-time political ramifications...

ON EDIT: You were being sarcastic....you are missing the point, and you sound like Lynne Cheney. Are you Lynee Cheney?

59. sounds lame to me
he's not talking about bush specifically, he's talking about money and political power. his rap could apply to a dem president as well as to bush.

64. Doesn't the phrase 'dead presidents' mean money?
I'm not going to Drudge ( a matter of principle). Let's see the whole rap. Could be about money not men.

Dead presidents means money. Mathers is an artist.

60. Does this mean I might have to actually buy one of his damned albums???
I'll have to wait for the finished product to determine whether it's worthy...

In the meantime, here's Marshall's take on Jingle Bells

63. Fine, let Toby Keith do a song about dead democratic candidates
and watch the meltdown. There would be a dozen threads about how sick, violent, and bloodthirsty the repubs are.

This is too close to the line of incitement of political assassination. Such irresponsible crap can ONLY hurt the anti-Bush cause.

66. Eminem is hard for me to like....Some songs are good but...
He always rubs me the wrong way when he disses people I like ESP the Beastie Boys in 8 mile..I cant watch that movie agian beause he sounds so dumb putting down the boys..If it was not for the Besties there would be no Eminem..
I do think hes talented though but uses stuff like this as a crutch to stay in the spotlight..As much as i want to see Bush removed from office i dont agree to what MM says..

67. Rip-Off Of F-Krips "How I Killed George Bush"
Was written to celebrate King George I by a local (KC MO) band, and attracted the ire of the Secret Service. Yes, I have it - but only on tape, so I can't share the love, dammit.

I must've struck a chord, with somebody
up in the office, cause congress keeps telling me I ain't causin' nuthin' but problems, and now
they're sayin' i'm in trouble with the government, i'm lovin' it, I shoveled shit all my life,
and now I'm dumping it on White America

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/eminem/whiteamerica.html

And if this is the new lyric: "It's never been said, but I set precedents" sounds kind of like this one: " just look at me like i'm your closest pal, the posterchild, the motherfuckin' spokesman now for White America"

He sure knows how to sell records.

and Eminem's near the top of that very long list. It's his personality that bugs me, not his lyrics. He wishes the President dead? Which one? A lot of people harbor serious ill will toward the Evil War Chimp. Eminem is merely in a position to profit from articulating it, if that is indeed what he is articulating. It's hardly a bold statement and certainly not an original thought.

71. Uh-uh!
I don't read that as a threat or wish.

It could be, but it seems more like lierary license and simply a statement meant to be outrageous.

It's rap. When do they ever hold back?

But, what the hell, Drudge and his buddies will jump on it like they do everything else.

Tempest... teapot...

74. Eminem is one of my favorites.
Edited on Fri Dec-05-03 10:57 AM by Tinoire
Between him and 50 Cents up for the Grammy, I don't know who I prefer!

Eminem is certainly making young people, some who might not otherwise, pay attention! Kudos to him. The guy is brilliant.
---

Well, it's true. Eminem don't lie. We know right off he's an angry crazy-ass white boy with enough issues for a 3-year subscription to Psycho's monthly, and a chip on his shoulder big enough to skateboard on. What you see is what you get. If you don't like it...f*ck you. That's his whole bit. Bush on the other hand......well, look at the track record. His pop: "Read my lips! No new taxes!" In the words of Gallagher, "No wonder he always said read my lips 'cause he was lying out his ass!" And now, his son: "They've got weapons of mass destruction other there...somewhere." The war is over supposedly, yet American troops keep dying. Yes, I believe Eminem is more truthful than Dubya, whose is either hiding the truth, or too stupid to know he's telling lies. Take your pick.
