Rush is a hypocrite for advocating jail for drug addicts until he himself got caught. However, jailing drug addicts is right-wing "war on drugs" inhumanity, regardless of the addicts politics.
The US has two million people in jail and one million of them are there for non-violent drug offenses. This is inhumane and fails on every level.
People are tortured, raped, disfigured, terrorized and killed in prisons for the "crime" of having the disease of addiction. This is justice?
My fondest wish would be for Rush to come around and see that this "war on drugs" is a total failure and that he would tell his dittoheads to oppose current US drug policy.

Bakker and his new wife were in fine fettle. Had on an ex-General and HIS wife, (by the way, all the wives do is nod and say "Praise God" over and over while doing nothing more than sit there like an over-lipsticked, cement-haired wax mannequins). The old dude weaved military metaphors and religious imagery as he talked about how the Holy Spirit had arrived at a revival meeting they were at in Texas and how the Holy Spirit had "blown up the whole place! It was glorious! People talking in tongues, praising the Lord, falling down and weeping on the floor! It was like Iraq, except it was Christian life, not Islamic death!"

They listen to hear what the lie, half truth or spin of the day is. I used to do the same thing but since he failed rehab his ranting have no interest to me. I’m not sure why that changed it for me, but that’s not the point.

My point is that he may be good for DU, lots of those Democrats will come and stay. Some of the dittos may even learn something. On balance it is way better that he mention us then that he not, so just enjoy and don’t ask why.

i know because i listen to radio to help me sleep easier,
but rush comes on in the morning and his putrid voice wakes me up very quickly.
usually im very angry at whatever he is saying, before i even realize im awake lol.

and one morning, before he went into drug rehabilitation.. i heard him complaining about DU.
and so i thought, "hey.. that must be the place for me!!"

From just plain meanness to outright lies..But since Rush is giving DU free publicity i could not be more happy..Look what it did for Al Franken.So now Rush has let many and I mean MANY of the listeners who disagree with Rush know about our little site on the web..And perhaps some who agree with you to find out about the truth to the lies that Rush spews and convert some dittoheads..So I say thanks a million Rush! I've got an idea as to why he's been so... adamant in his offensive against DU.

First, understand the modus operandi of the extreme right over the past ten years or so. Attack, attack and then attack some more. It's the Gringrich Model. It makes no difference how invalid their attacks are or how valid the opposition's defence is, as long as Rush, O'Reilly, Hannity. et.al keep hammering away.

Give the masses a few bullet points to argue for and against and tell them in so many words, "...and after you've exhausted those, stop thinking, pull the shades over the windows and keep repeating them until the opposition's ears begin to bleed".

I mean, think about it; you can easily spot a ditto-head by listening for key-words: ilk, big-gubment, athiest, family-values, spew and a host of others.

BUT (and this is a big but), ever since the drug question came up, the listeners have begun questioning him. And questions actually force a person to think. Thinking leads to research and research easily leads people to the DU. And at DU, the questions, answers, theories and ideas are... somwhat enlightening at times and concrete at others.

I honestly think Rush is afraid of DU and is giving his listeners marching orders to attack the DU forums while telling them, "...but don't actually read the posts or think about them, you know how those liberals are...".

DU has become one of the most effective grass-roots organizations of the new century, displacing his own grass-roots listener base as a source of information for the undecided and fence-sitters.

He's becoming a satire of himself and DU is advertising it beyond measure. My own freeper friends get a strange and guilty look on their faces when asked if their source is Rush re: any converstations we have anymore.

His fear is that the mask has been pulled off and even his own fans are asking, "Why the mask in the first place, oh great and mighty brain?"

He's attacking DU because we are illustrating to more and more people that the emperor not only has no clothes, but has been telling his fans to disrobe with him (as gross as the image may be, I think it's apt).

Anyway, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

The Irony is the possibility of a loss of his listenership to the DU due to enlightenment by coming here.
