Outer Banks Conservationists, the private non-profit that's restored the lighthouse and run it & the grounds for twenty years, recently gained title to it from Interior. But Jones insinuated himself into the title conveyance by "asking" the GSA administrator to hold off on conveying title until an audit was performed, blah-dy blah blah blah. This was a -- well, I can't say illegal act because I'm not sure. But Congress has no place trying to interdict an order from the Secretary of the Interior to another executive branch agency.
Now to the point: Jones did all of this because the head of Outer Banks Conservationists is gay. No matter that the man is a native of NC, that his grandfather was the last lighthouse master (or whatever it's called), that his private non-profit has taken a lighthouse that the gov't completely gave up on and, sinking several millions of dollars into the lighthouse, keeper's house, and grounds, restored it to its original form to the glory of Currituck Beach, NC, the coastline, etc....
on edit: I'm gay, yes. And I'm not a North Carolinian. But I stand on Jefferson's principle of the separation of church & state, and find it outrageous that any U.S. Representative allows his religious beliefs to come before his duty to those who elected him.
