What if Repukes were honest with Americans about their agenda ?
During Campaign ads wouldn't it be lovely if bush
was honest about his agenda ?

What if repukes said we want to get rid of communist
Social Security and everything else FDR implemented?

What if they said we want to go back to the good old 50s
when Blacks couldn't vote ?

What if they said we want to roll back all the expanded freedoms
of the 20th century ?

What if they said we believe homosexuallity is a crime
that should be punished with jail ?

What if they said we believe coorperations have more
rights under the Constitution than human beings ?

What if they said We want to dominate the planet
though war and rule every man woman and child ?

What if they said oil profits are more important
than human life ?

What if they said we believe poor people should serve
the rich deserve and feel lucky to have anything ?

What if they said unions should be abolished ?

what if they said if we want to compete in a foriegn
market we must drive wages down here in America ?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I wonder if my sig line
is what would happen to the republican party if
they would tell Americans straight the honest to god
truth about their plans ?

Why are they afraid to be honest about it ?

3. Well True True ..
The thing I don't is why be afraid to let America know
who they are ?

Aren't they proud ?

Why hide it ?

Do they know that Americans wouldn't go for it ?

I say they should just come out of the closet .

I don't understand why they would be ashamed of
themselves

2. I don't think they've been all that dishonest. They have said on many
occasions what their goals are. People just don't pay attention. Sure they usually couch it in euphamisms, but it is a pretty thin veil on an ugly monster. It is hard to pay attention with two kids two mortages, two car payments, a jerk of a boss. Give 'em a beer and back to back episodes of "Friends" and people would rather sit back and let themselves get fucked rather than fight the raping of their country.

7. But again that is just a lack of investigation. The party as a whole has
very clearly stated it's goals. The candidates might say they won't legislate based on the party platform, but anyone who would ignore the platform and believe the candidate is a fool. Bush called himself a compassionate conservative. Well his record in Texas showed that he was neither compassionate nor conservative. People would understand that if they could just take one night a week to investigate their rulers. The RNC hasn't been overtly deceitful, some candidates may have campaigned under false pretenses, but what candidate hasn't? I don't think the RNC lie about what they want, I just don't think people care enough to figure it out.

To us "political junkies it's all there"

We really cannot expect people who are not political
junkies to know inherently the "history" of the parties .
They are not taught it in the schools .

However I do agree that Americans are used to having
info given to them ; Thus are ill equipped to even
know where to look to get the information they seek.

I don't think it's a lack of caring

Americans are not all about "me me me" Americans
are a good caring people who deserve some amount
of credit there . We are a very generous people.

911 was proof of that in my lifetime . People
drove from all around to help in the rubble .

in every town Americans were lined up to give
blood for their fellow citizens . I was one of them.

17. I didn't mean to imply that all Americans were me me me...
I think that We, as a people, are exhausted. We work more hours and have higher debt to income ratios than any other society in the western world. We also have hardly any safety net. If an American hits a hard time, it often means bankruptcy and homelessness. That is alot of stress for the average person to deal with. Is it any wonder many of us are apathetic?

6. I wonder about this all the time. Thank you for bringing it up
and laying it all out so well! The GOP knows damn well they'd lose elections, which is why they've decided loading the courts with Federal Society members and the media, nonprofits and think tanks with Scaife-funding addicts, and controlling the voting machines and the redistricting process is their best bet.

10. You know what?
I think it would make a marginal difference. The Republicans are appealing to people's baser instincts: greed, selfishness, prejudice... and making them feel that it's okay to be that way. It's much easier to not question those feelings. They are the party of "it's okay to think about ME, ME, ME!" We have to find a way to make people WANT to think outside of themselves and care about others and their environment.

23. That is right.
Hell, it was little secret in 1980 that Ronnie cavorted with the extreme RW, Foulwell, Pauy Weyrich, Howard Philips, and other crypto facsists, and he shared their wingnut views. When Pres Carter tried to point this out, the 'liberal press' blasted HIM for being 'mean and petty', including the washington post!!! To this day, I have NEVER forgiven the WP!!!!

The masses shrugged, and went Awwwwww when Ronnie smiled, and the deal was done. Many, MANY voters do not know 'right wing' from right handed. They would neither understand, nor care.
