How many people are waiting 'til the General Election to Contribute?
Dean's fundraising numbers are amazing. But then you look at them against the 800-pound elephant on the other side....

I'm wondering if we have a chance of competing with the * fundraising machine. I know money's tight, and even though I've kicked a few bucks to a couple of candidates & MWO, i'm holding off on my contributions 'til the general election.

Just wondering how many people are doing the same - either you or people you know.

Here's Another idea I heard: In lieu of gifts this Christmas, please contribute to the Democratic organization of your choice.

something to think about

1. Yes
I don't have a lot to give but I have given some and will give more once I know we're up against Bush. They'll have to do w/o my help until I know. At that point I'll give the $100.

4. I made my first contribution to Democratic Underground just a couple hours
ago. I've already used up my unemployment, so it was very small.

But I think it's important to remember that we can't beat the Repugs at their own game. Knowledge is power, and it can trump money. For example, George W. Bush could spend $1 billion on his campaign, and I still wouldn't vote for him, because I'm not stupid.

So people need to get the message out. They also need to get involved in LOCAL ELECTIONS.

8. Wow, that was fast.
I thought I read that it would probably take two or three days to get your star.

9. I agree with you. If you listened to the Arnie Anersen show in C-Span
this morning, INVOLVEMENT AND PASSION is what wins campaigns. They were discussing the several campaigns of the past (Carter, Mondale, Dukakis,Clinton. etc.)
It was interesting.

7. If we don't.............
get rid of Bush our money will in all likelyhood be worthless soon anyway. We might as well give to the candidate of our choosing now and keep giving until the election. In my opinion, there is no price that can be put on getting Chimpy McCokespoon out of our White House. I've given almost $700 so far to local and national Democrats, and will continue to do so.

10. Giving Only Locally
I'm in a state after Super Tuesday...the primary process here is a joke, thus I'm of observer status on the national scene.

I plan to give the maximum this election season, but to those that I feel need the help most and are the more important for the overall growth of the party...the local organizations and parties (must be my Chicago roots).

So far I've attempted to aid our local rag-tag band of merry Democrats and maybe, just maybe, they're starting to realize there's a large and growing group of us...(middle & upper middle class suburbanites in Repugnican areas) that are ready to erode (and hopefully one day) destroy the local GOOP machines that dominate the suburbs. I know other cities have similar situations.

My biggest issue is retaking the House from the Exterminator and Hastert the Bastard..this was our safety valve during the Raygun days and now a rubber stamp for this regime. Without the control of one or both houses, no Democratic agenda nor President can really enact a positive change...and do we need that now!!!

11. in lieu of Xmas gifts.....
In lieu of Christmas gifts, give your self a treat and buy "Four Trials" of Johhn Edwards. It is an inspiring story and a real "upper" ---a great gift for parents and relatives and you can buy it on his website and so be making a contribution at the same time: www.johnedwards2004.com.

I just read it and couldn't put it down. I look forward to comments of others.
