Any lurking Freeper who can answer this question about Bush?
Why didn't Bush make Captain if he served his country with honor and integrity?

Captain is almost an automatic promotion for most officers in the Army. It is above a 99 percent promotion rate for those who are eligible.

One, he wasn't in the army, he was in the Air national Guard (the original post just says army, so I'll play dittohead and pick it apart)

Two, assuming that figure applies to the Air Force, he never showed up to get his promotion. He was too busy snorting coke and drinking with his frat brothers...Didn't you know?

10. You are right
That stat is for active duty in today's Army/Air Force.

In today's ANG the promotion rate is 78 percent.

Thanks.

4. I would think an officer in the TANG with the connections he had...
...would've made Captian rapidly. I guess they couldn't find him to pin the bars on him?

5. And why didn't Ollie North
make Colonel? He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel which would seem to be a slap in the face with one so entrenched in the White House. Bush didn't make Captain because of the peter principal, First Lieutenant was about all he could intellectually handle. He rose as high as he could (on his own).

8. Don't want to split hairs
as the question is a good one...but wasn't the present squatter in the Air National Guard defending Texas from imminent invasion by hostile Mexican forces?

14. He must have been in "stealth mode", because the top Alabama...
...National Guard commanders at the time couldn't recall Junior ever being in their command.

My bet is on the Chimpster doing community service in Houston in exchange for expunging a cocaine conviction.
