"Police: DA groped girl, 10" Another of those Repug family values types.
I haven't seen this here today, and it is probably too late for Late Breaking, so I am posting this here.

"Monroe County District Attorney and judge-elect Mark Pazuhanich was charged Friday with groping a 10-year-old girl at a teenage pop star concert last weekend in a downtown theater.

A security officer and a parent told police they saw Pazuhanich groping the girl in a front row seat during the Hilary Duff concert last Saturday at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, Luzerne County District Attorney David W. Lupas said at a news conference."

snip..
"The charges were filed on the same day Pazuhanich's lawyer, Marshall Anders of Stroudsburg, disclosed Pazuhanich had checked himself into an alcohol rehabilitation center. The disclosure followed news accounts that Pazuhanich had not shown up for work in the district attorney's office and no one in his office knew his whereabouts."

snip...
"Last month, he won a hard-fought three-way race to become Monroe County's sixth judge. On the eve of the May primary, members of the Monroe County Bar Association gave Pazuhanich generally low marks for integrity, compared to the ratings they gave to his two opponents.

The 47-year-old Republican had won two four-year terms as Monroe County district attorney before winning the judgeship."

Yep... get drunk, molest a pre-pubescent child, disappear, check into alcohol (or drug) rehab, declare you've "seen the light", expect to walk away from charges. Typical Repug story.

1. All these stories I see here are obviously of local
Republican child molesters. All over the f'in country. Now I know that child molestation isn't favored in even the Republican Party platform. So what is the deal? Do I just not hear about the Democrats because we don't post them here? Or is there something about being a selfish Republican that let's these perverts think that they are entitled to get away with it?

4. it's a really good question.
I'm sure there must be psychologists who have researched the question of how professed "family values" and this horrible behavior can co-exist, but I wonder what they've determined.

As for the part of the question that asks whether Dems are equally guilty, if someone wanted to, I would think they could google it.

6. Child molesters are made, not born
That perp was in all likelihood molested as a child, or otherwise inappropriately and prematurely sexualized as a child.

Adults carry the responsibility, but the truth is he was (99%) likely to have been a victim himself, way back when.

It proibably doesn't help that Christian conservatives have so much sexual repression going on among their rranks, tho I would NOT want anyone to infer that I'm blaming sexual repression for child sexual abuse, 'cause I'm not. I've identified the cause; I'm just saying the typical repression prbablyu doesn't help. (A good book that touches on this is "WhenGod Becomes a Drug" by Fr. Leo Booth.)

9. a couple of thoughts
1 - I think I've read that 30% of those abused will become perps. Just want to make sure no one thinks it's a given that because someone is abused they will automatically become an abuser. It's still a choice and someone abused has the choice to get help as an adult or choose to do nothing about it or choose to be a perp.

2 - Sexual abuse of children is sexual assault. I think of it like rape. It's about power, control, anger and abuse abuse of power. Anyone can make this choice, but imho, it is the far right who thinks in terms of power and control and abuse of power. It doesn't surprise me that this perp. is a republican. Speaking of which whatever happened to Philip Giordano? Is he in prison yet?

3 - I'm so sad for this little girl. She has been robbed in so many ways by this incident. I hope she can heal. It's a tall order for one so young.

4 - imo, it's sexual abuse that can lead to repression. It is something so socially oppressive and destructive that it must be stopped.

Peace all
Gina

5. Republicans don't believe in consensual sex...
They told us that again and again when they impeached Clinton.
