1. I would argue
that these three are the only ones worth watching. Maybe Kerry too.

Thanks for this.

103. Big mistake for Clark not to be there
The mod was obviously pissed, and unless there's
a damn good excuse I don't blame him.
If Clark lost his voice that'd be an excuse, but I'd
think that in that case the Mod would have been informed
and told us.

Bad move General.

Great showings by Dean and Kunicich, and no show for Clark.

Still the K man has the best plan on that, I like the idea honestly, like universal post K-12 education will make people smarter imo, same with his pre K-12 plan. I think it will make the public smarter and better educated.

Just to be clear.

"Kerry, who recently suggested a high-profile special envoy for the region on the level of former Presidents Bush or Clinton or former Sen. George Mitchell, said the United States must be prepared to take some risks to make peace."

Dennis is far more knowledgeable and eloquent then Dean. He knows the ins and outs on policy issues unlike Dean, who tends to fumble and dance around.

I was most impressed with Kerry, Kucinich, and Gephardt today.

Dean and Clark are the usual bust. We need a Democrat in office, not a Republicat.

92. I have no idea why Clark did not attend
and I do think it is wrong to not answer questions. But, Clark sounded like he was losing his voice again. When I listened to his speech, his tone sounded off. In the first days of the campaign, he had the same problem. I think he has the Clinton problem. He needs to rest his voice. That's my wild guess.

he might've had to catch an earlier plane than he had intended to because of the weather.

Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 09:56 PM by khephra
that he said he had to make a flight in 40 minutes earlier in the segment. Trust me on this--Dean has made sure that he's met with people out and about. That's one thing he always seems to manage to do. Usually he plans on getting to events early so he can meet with supporters.

I know that because I had to help set up a Dean meeting with local voters earlier this year.

Random thoughts:

The woman accusing Kucinich of taking money from gambling interests was an interesting exchange..hmm..she couldn't seem to remember her source though.

Kucinich speaking Spanish to people is pretty impressive.

He lived out in the southwest for a while in the late 70's and 80's. I wonder if he knows Croatian :), that would really be neat, hes like 2nd generation, he might know.

I'm getting more impressed with Dean; my disgust isn't targeted

our throats, and this St. Pete guy was exhibit A.

126. I know pruner, but it was a *subjective* account of how the crowd reacted
Then he went on to say soon the field would just be Dean
and a couple of others. Even if that seems apparent to him,
I think it was more than a supposedly impartial journalist should be
declaring.

128. I saw them rerun it three times since 3pm or so.
Then I rounded to the nearest 20 to be tidy (and for impact :)).
I added the "~" ~universal* approximation symbol to give me wiggle
room if confronted on my number.

Anyway, point being that they're broadcasting it over and over.

(I added "~" to "universal" for basically the same reason.)

115. The Dean meetup folks
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 10:03 PM by quaker bill
have been working hard preparing for this convention. I think there are actually as many people volunteering for Dean in central Florida right now as I saw working for Al Gore on election day in 2000. The Dean camp had a very large delegation at the convention.

Central Florida has not been a very politically active place over the last 30 years.

The war and the election campaign has brought a level of activism to this area that I have never seen before.

Last October, during the build up to war in Iraq some 6 or 7 friends started meeting in a local coffee shop to organize action against the war. The protests started out very small but grew with each passing week to the point where there were several hundred committed activists and many many more who would attend from time to time.

The same phenomena seems to be going on with the Dean camp. The meetups have had to split because the size was too large for the venues. There are now 6 of them locally.

This is not typical central Florida politics. Bush has been a great uniter, he has united his opposition here in a way I have never observed before.

124. I don't know, but this format is far better than the stupid TV debates
Every candidate, including Kerry, has sounded terrific when they are allowed time to answer questions on complex issues and elaborate on their answers. A far cry from the ridiculous time constraints in the TV debates we have watched in which there is only enough time to land one punch, to get one sound bite.

I think the TV debates should be scrapped!
