Business as usual for George W. Bush - Behr paint product placement
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 11:36 PM by burythehatchet
http://www.opensecrets.org/softmoney/softcomp1.asp?txtName=masco

There was skit on the Daily Show where they photoshopped the pResident with a NASCAR inspired outfit fully equipped with Ads for Enron, Halliburton, etc.

In yet another example of satire trying just to keep up with reality, George Bush was filmed at his Home Depot session today, with a background of Behr paint cans. A quick search revealed that Behr is a unit of Masco Corp. According to Open Secrets, Masco donated $100,000 in soft money in the 2002 cycle. Of that amount, $100,000 was given to the RNC.

So product placement has taken on a whole new meaning.

Rather than letting my blood pressure increase i hereby swear to never purchase Behr paints.

1. Crap!
I actually really like some of their paints. They have a line of metallic decorating paints I have used in a lot of my paintings. At my old house I had my walls painted with them. I've never seen those type of paints, with metallic and interference colors in large quantities except from Behr. I used to buy them at home depot, where I am not going to shop anymore either.

2. Regretably, we must all sacrifice
and the only language these folks speak is the language of cash.

6. May I suggest
http://www.ppg.com/ppgaf/pittsburgh/index.htm#

They are more expensive than any of the crap you can buy at Depot or Lowe's but the quality is MUCH better.

I've used their paints since I was 14. It also doesn't hurt that they're based in my hometown.

5. 2 Home Depot Points
1 Any company that brags about how well they treat their employees probably treats them like crap! I worked for home o' de poor for 2 days, both orientation days. I was in Grad School at the time and when my manager told me that if he needed me on a night I had a class, he expected me to bag class, I told him that his company and I weren't a good fit.

2 My late and very great father in law always refered to them as "that Mafia company". He didn't think that any truly legit company could grow as fast as they did.

7. real people like you and me work at HD and behr.
boycotting certain companies may make ya feel good, but won't change their politics.

only radically fundamental changes in the way politcal campaigns are run is going to get corporate money out of the system.

not gonna hold my breath waiting for either the dems. or repooks to come out for anything like that. which is insane coz the dems have the most to gain from something as radical as public finacing of camaigns.

11. I guess the question that I need to resolve
is the following: Is it OK to pimp for your corporate interests in this fashion?
