Clark\Dean Dean\Clark
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 01:31 AM by Bleachers7
The are the two that are really going places. Hopefully we will get one of these tickets. I think we are almost at the point where the two sides can put down their swords. Probably mid february where a lot will start to sink in. What I am saying is that I see so many charged up and excited democrats. I can't wait until we are working together. I want to the primaries over already.

2. I can handle that
Chances are the VP will be announced next june. That means I will have volunteered for a year before we got the VP. I guess the suspense is killing me.

3. Agreed
I try to stay out of the prediction business but I think it's safe to say that those two will be at the top of the pecking order during the primaries. Of course there's still time for that to change, but at the moment it looks that way. In any event that ticket, in either order, would certainly be effective if only for the fact that it combines two candidates with large pools of supporters who are extremely dedicated.

4. the two that matter?
:eyes:

They all matter. Some call for unity you got there, when you marginalize all but your two candidates.

6. I am about to post the suggestion at Dean's site
I would encourage anyone supporting either of these candidates to do the same. In my opinion that will be the difference between a landslide victory for the Dems and a closer victory. When we win next year I want it to be by a landslide so big that there is not way for them to cheat again.

7. good to here that, bleachers7
that's why i don't call names. plus, i like them both.

i do think it is down to them, with dean ahead by quite a bit in terms of money and early momentum (leading the early NH primary and IA strawpoll).

I thought they were both OUTSTANDING in Florida this weekend.

8. I prefer Dean/Clark
If I were dean and just elected I would hand over getting out of Iraq to the VP Clark and that would leave Dean to concentrate on the domestic side. A bona fide general in charge of getting us out of iraq would mean that we would not be sacrificing our men to an amateur. And Clark should be on the ticket for his assets in the Kosovo ending. I also enjoyed the Florida dem speeches. I would like to rehear Clarks speech. He made some new points. And Kucinich made some good points too. but i still think Dean has the best chance to win.And the best chance to do well with Clark as VP

9. I also like Clark for VP because I would get to see him debate Cheney!
I would give almost anything to see that matchup.

10. Examples of VP nominees who were full candidates during primaries?
Bush Sr. ran against Reagan, then was his VP. ("Voodoo economics" quote from this period)

I can't think of any other examples. Dole picked Kemp, Chimp picked Cheney, Clinton picked Gore, Carter picked Mondale...

...am I missing something obvious?

13. Dean/Edwards or Clark/Dean
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 02:58 AM by LoneStarLiberal
I'm a Clarkie. Have been since the beginning.

I don't think Wes Clark would be a good VP candidate. While he makes an outstanding Presidential candidate I do not think he is interested in being a VP candidate nor do I think he would be good as a VP candidate...though I do agree I'd like to see Clark/Cheney debates!

I do think that an equally charismatic though weak from the national security standpoint ticket would be Howard Dean and John Edwards. Both are articulate, have populist rhetoric, and have policies I'd rate right alongside Wes Clark's. I think that adding Wes Clark as either National Security Advisor or Secretary of State to this ticket would make one hell of a tough one to beat.

Alternatively (and my hoped-for alternative!), I think either a Clark/Dean or Clark/Kerry ticket would be excellent. Given the unprecedented involvement that the Dean campaign has stirred up, I can't imagine anyone else winning the nomination and not giving Dean first shot at the VP slot.

He's going to be essential either as nominee or VP.

17. Coming to Same View

The more I hear Dean talk about healthcare and the more I hear Clark talk about foreign policy - I believe these two men need to be on the ticket together. Together they provide an extremely compelling profile - in some sense because they are both not from Washington. They both have worked with Washington - governor and NATO commander. They were like us - trying to work with Washington to get what they needed for their constiutents.

Perhaps that is really the message I see - we are all disappointed with the Democrats in Washington. We see the democrats paralyzed unable to stand up for us. Here are two men who do stand up for us.

I am a Clark supporter and thus would prefer a Clark/Dean ticket. However, I respect the support Dean has. ABB.
