2. He has no reason to apologize
That this is even an issue is completely astonishing to me. The only people who are "offended" by it are actually Kerry opponents who smell something to attack him on, and it's completely transparent that that's the motive. It has nothing to do with anything.

How can you not talk about Bush without using the F word??

The media is reporting Bush signing Medicare bill like it is a wondrous thing. They are spending little time explaining the reality behind the signing. But they are bringing in guests to talk about Kerry's comment---fucked-up corporate media...

5. Then maybe Andy Card would politely suggest to his boss...
That he appologize for saying "F*** Saddam--we're taking him out!" to a group of visiting Repub senators last year...before he ever made those plans "official" to the public--you know, "introduced the new model", as Card put it. :eyes:

They really like to pick on Kerry, for some reason...just as with Kerry's "Regime change at home" remark...kind of wondered what was wrong with that one!:eyes:

Oh, and Adam Clymer with the New York Times, too, while Dub's at it...recall the now-classicly infamous "Major league assh***" remark Dub "whispered" to Cheney at a suburban CHicago campaign stop?

Why should John Kerry appologize for telling the truth? To me, Dub is the one who needs to appologize for his almost-incessant LIES!

B-)

7. It took Kerry off of my short list...
I don't like profanity, it cheapens the argument and shows a lack of control. That is not what I am looking for in a national leader. There is still something to be said for civility and manners.

25. I disagree...it doesn't matter what publication..
he made it in a deliberate public manner. I refuse to accept your argument that because of the 2000 election we have an excuse to sink to any depths we want to.

To me this shows that he either 1. lacks control or 2. did it as a stunt for attention. Neither is a good reason.

Everybody in America knows how serious a "fuckup" is and if they were not thinking "fuckup" before about Iraq, they are now.

And now that "fuckup" is tagged to Iraq, it's not going away.

13. GO KERRY!
I still would like to know when the Brown House, err, White House, and "President" Bushitler, are going to apologize for the following:

...all the soldiers KILLED for their war for OIL.
...the LIES about Iraq having WMD's.
...not doing a DAMN thing to prevent 9/11.
...the deficit.
...the eCONomy.
...the no-bid contracts.
...Bushitler not going to soldiers' funnerals.
...the Pentagon not allowing picture taken of flag-drapped coffins of the soldiers.
...the Patriot Act robbing everyone of basic civil liberties.
...that piece of crap Medicare bill the railroaded through last week.
...stealing the 2000 election.
...doing all they can to union bust.
...sealing Raygun, Bush I, Clinton AND DUMBya's presidential papers.
...the highest unemployement rate in DECADES.
...the worst job grow SINCE HOOVER.
...Rick Santorum and Strom Turmond and JeSSe Helms.
...killing countless Iraqi and Afgan civilians.
...trying to redistict every last state they can try to?
...recalling Davis "cuz he couldn't balance the California budget"? (I guess it's NOT ok to recall Bush for HIS defict.)
...trying to get rid of affirmative action at U of Mich., A clear cut example of Bushitler and co. playing the race card.
...trying to put Raygun on the dime.
...not putting Kennyboy Lay in jail, as well as the other CEO scum who ripped off countless people's pentions and stocks.
...Bushitler calling Rush Limpnoodle a "great American."
...Bushitler sitting in a classroom for 1/2 an hour while America IS UNDER ATTACK.
...slashing veterans benefits DURING A TIME OF WAR.
...tax cuts for the rich.
...daring to entertain the idea of returning to the moon WHEN WE DO NOT EVEN HAVE HOMELAND SECURITY.

Do they apologize for ANYTHING?!?!?!?!?

Lu Cifer, enquiring minds want to know

31. If you think he would have went to war,
don't vote for him. That's what he told Eric Alterman and I think it's fitting for everybody else. Just don't vote for him.

He voted on IWR because that was the only way to put the kind of pressure on the UN to get the inspectors back in Iraq. He didn't expect Bush to fuck it up as badly as he did, the diplomacy, the UN, the alientation of our allies, ALL of it. He certainly didn't expect people like Colin Powell to just roll over for Bush.

So if you really think John Kerry would have done what Bush did and would have taken this country to war with Iraq, then he shouldn't be President. Don't vote for him.

24. good!
I once asked my (adult) neighbor to please stop her dog from shitting on my lawn. She took great offense to my use of the word "shit" even though I was using it as a descriptive noun and not for the sake of using profanity.

same here. Bush truly has f***ed up lots of issues, and I think Kerry was trying to make a point and not using profanity just for shock value.

in retrospect, I probably wouldn't have said shit to my neighbor and Kerry probably shouldn't have used this term in an interview. It's easy to fall into the familiar without realizing it.

34. "Fuck" Kerry
Am I the only one (surely not!) who sees Kerry's use of the word "fuck" as a kinda desperate ploy to get "hip" with the young crowd? Like his motorcycle-riding nonsense? It occurs to me that it could have been a calculated decision on the part of Kerry's minions:

"Now, Senator, you'll be doing this interview with the Rolling Stone. So, maybe you can use this forum to say something---I dunno---something provocative. Remember that roundtable interview in Rolling Stone with Hunter Thompson and Clinton?"

"Who's Huntley Thompson?"

"Not Huntley, Senator. 'Hunter.' He's a ---he's a wild, left-wing, kinda crazy journalist. Anyway, that interview helped Clinton a lot with the, ya know, the young people. So maybe you can do something, I dunno--something bold."

"Such as, say I like a good glass of chardonnay while listening to the David Matthews Quartet?"

"Well, not exactly, Senator. It's the 'Dave Matthews Band,' by the way. No, we were hoping that you might consider something a little more forceful, like, you know, explicting a deletive."

"You mean, say, 'Goddman it!' Or 'Hell's bells'?"

"Um, we were thinking of 'fuck.'"

"Oh. Gosh. Gee. I don't know about that! Well, maybe. But I'm still gonna have to ask you to put 50 cents in the campaign 'swear jar.'"

"Of course, Senator. Have you---have you got two quarters?"

No, you're not.

To me, this seemed like a desperate cry for attention.

"Hi. Please notice me. I'm over here. If I say 'f**k", will you notice me then? Will ya?"

There are better ways of getting noticed by the general public.

38. You don't know Kerry
He is as human as the rest of us, more so than some others who are running.

"Kerry gets the reporter's voice mail. "Hi, this is John Kerry," he says. "I had a message you called. Um, happy to help you out with, uh, whatever you need." He hangs up, then spins around with the phone in his hand. "What the hell was I calling this guy about?" He says. "Sorry," Wade says, shuffling through papers in the backseat. "I gave you the wrong guy." (Later, The New Republic will cite that mistaken voice-mail message as evidence of Kerry's 2004-minded courtship of the media: "When a TNR colleague left a message with Kerry's press office recently, the senator personally called him back a few minutes later although the reporter hadn't even asked for an interview.") Noting my physical discomfort beside him in the backseat, Wade asks Kerry, "Sir, have you ever considered getting a bigger car?" Kerry shoots back, "No, but I have thought about cutting all your fucking legs off at the knees." Then he waves a hand at the green world outside. "Look at this weather," he exclaims.. "If I could, I'd go roll around on the grass somewhere, ideally a spot where a dog hadn't been."
