Justice for Bob Novak
In July Novak identified a CIA operative. He should be arrested, tried, convicted and punished. Short of that please go to www.bustbob.com and petition his employers to fire him for unethical behaviour. Its a sight with info about another conservative traitor to our country. Since we can't depend on ashcroft, bush and the rest of the fascists to administer justice, we have to take action ourselves. I strongly urge you to send off this petition. So far, more than 2,300 persons have sent it. That should be enough to give a newspaper publisher a headache.

3. What crime did he commit?
He committed no crime whatsoever. The person who leaked to him committed a crime.

We really don't want to start jailing journalists for telling what they know. That's a dangerous road to go down.

5. Yeah, who cares if he reveals the name of CIA Agents...

It's not like they have a dangerous job or anything; which hinges entirely on their identity remaining secret.

Say, what are those 57 stars in the lobby of CIA headquaters for? Oh that's right, they're markers for dead Americna Intelligence Officers.

Bob's a traitor- take him out and string him up.

Col. Kim Philby of British Intelligence/KGB knew how to deal with those who were about to blow his cover.

10. Whether it was ethically right or wrong...
is a different question. The issue here is did he break any law? I maintain that he did not, but if you can quote me a relevant law that he broke, I'll change my mind.

11. Like the man said- the petition is to have him fired.
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 03:24 PM by Patriot_Spear
Were I an Intelligence Officer with an NOC job like Plames'- I'd find Bob one dark night and make sure he couldn't blow any American's cover again.

It's purely hypothetical of course...

6. Identifying an undercover CIA operative
He did the identifying, under his byline, in the paper. His publisher is culpable as well. Those in the White House who passed the info to him are also guilty, but his hiding behind the curtain of Journalism should not make him immune. He is guilty of identifying the agent. A strong case could be made that he did it for political reasons, thereby nullifying any claim of journalistic integrity. His motives weren't to inform the public but to punish someone who told the truth.

The petition is to get him fired, not to try him for a crime.

9. First...
I didn't say he was right to do it. I simply said he didn't break any law.

If you read the law covering the "outing" of CIA operatives, you'll see that it doesn't cover journalists. It only covers people "on the inside", that is, people who have security clearance and know the identity of operatives based on their job. That law doesn't apply to Novak.

Yes, the petition is to get him fired, but the original post claims he should be tried and convicted. But he broke no law.

Can anybody find me the relevant section of the law in question that covers Novak?

12. that's crap
Novak has a history of using his "journalism" as favors to political cronies. What he did to Wilson's wife was criminal and he should be jailed for that.

8. The Free Press is one thing but when the results of an article
endangers another life, nevermind livelyhood, its another matter.

Novak knew what he was doing. Using the filmsy excuse of Journalistic License is typ Pub, lame.

That smug cretin should be in jail and/or sued to the point of hurt. A message needs to be sent.

Journalist my ass, he is a Pub Whore of the worst kind, he sucks the Pub teat with unabashed gusto. I mean, look at his lips for gods sake, all the ear marks of SUCKER
