How does Dean win without Ohio and Florida?
I don't think he can get those two states.

1. I think he can get either one or both
so I guess my opinion and yours cancel each other out.

2. He can get Ohio.
People are pissed at Bush and Diebold will be watched. The steel unions will probably come over to his side.

21. Yeah, he can. ..
of course he has to COME here. Yes, I'm a nag on this and I know Ohio's primary is late, the focus is on the early states, blah-blah-blah. But we have Bush and Cheney here so often you'd think they had relatives or girlfriends here. Dean can't WAIT until the primary to visit and get some local coverage.

6. With NH, WV and AZ.
Those don't seem very out of reach at all. Nor do I really think Ohio would be impossible to get. Though I'm really looking for a 50 state sweep bought about by a massive rejection of bush's bullshit.

10. assuming we hold everything else
Remember that's no sure thing.

We won Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnoesota, Oregon, and New Mexico by less than 1 or 2%. Some of these states came to a few thousand votes.

8. With Clark as VP..
Dean wins the Gore states, plus New Hampshire, plus Arkansas. That's exactly 270EVs. Of course, if Dean is nominated, I think he should very heavily contest Ohio.

they can take Florida too. Florida will swing if Clark's coming along. I can just picture all the old vets down here nodding at every goddamn word that comes out of Clark's mouth, he speaks a language they understand. War.

11. Why do you think he can't win Florida?
I see good things happening here. I had a LTTE published, quite slamming to this administration's policies. I was rather surprised it was printed.

The phone woke us up before 8 in the morning, and it rang all day with wonderful people calling to say thank you. I kept waiting for the harassing calls, and they never came. I don't know how many of the ones who called were Republicans, I do know that several told me they were.

They are so angry, and it made them feel good to see a letter just setting forth the things that were going wrong with our country.

It made us feel so good, and it really stunned us. My husband took a lot of the calls, and he said many were independents or Republicans.

I think things are happening here in Florida.

14. Smear: "Gay marriage." "Tax increase." "Draft dodge." But most of all
Black Box Voting. I doubt even a paper trail will make much of a difference.

17. You are forgetting that most people are more aware now.
They are seeing bad times ahead. I have two neighbors who believe Bush is appointed by God. They will never change. Most of my neighbors and friends, though, are quite fed up. You would be surprised.

16. I agree with your assertion about Florida...
As we all know Florida was a *very* close victory for the GOP last time around. I find it highly likely that Jr. has pissed enough of the swing voters in that state around. Hell, my parents, like many here in Michign do, migrated down to Florida 2 years ago for good so you can add 2 more straight party dems to the mix down there!

20. I think Florida could well vote Democratic this time.
Remember the media, and the games it plays. They picture Florida as so loyal to Bush and Jeb.....this is just not true.

About the only ones really loyal now are the right wing Christian fundamental base....you can write them off to Bush.

12. Ohio for sure...
...Florida I don't know. It will be tough.

But I think we got a great shot in New Hampshire and West Virginia. I also think Dean would do well in Arizona, Nevada, and possibly Colorado.

Depending on the running mate he can do well in Arkansas and Louisiana.

What is that 57 (plus 26 if you include Ohio) a possible pick up 93 electoral votes over what happened in 2000.

18. who do you support?
I think it's important to know.

Besides, how do you know who can win which state before even the primaries? I think this is a lot of projected angst.

like Indiana, which has been hit HARD by the economy or Colorado, which just needs a gentle push to go Blue.

22. Gore won FL even with Nader's 5% of the vote
what on earth -- other than the voting m,achines and classic vote suppression techniques -- makes you think ANY Dem couldn't win against the fool Bush?
