Point A: People long for the peace and prosperity of the Clinton administration, but do not necessarily long for Clinton (this is true of many progressives as well as social moderate Southerners)

Point B: We need someone who can compete with the name recognition of Bush.

C: Provided that Dean wins the nomination, it would be necessary that mainline Dems feel safe voting for him.

The solution: Dean/Gore 2004

Is it possible?

It'll be too much like a co-presidency.

It's what killed the Reagan/Ford pairing in '80/

2. Not a co-presidency...
a double presidency in the minds of voters. People are going to stick with what's safe in the next election. To them, Bush is safe, but they remember that having Gore as VP was safer, IMO...
