1. well obviously
They're only counting the soldiers were killed on Tuesdays and Fridays....oh, and alternate Mondays, but only on days when the temperatures hover between 95 and 98 degrees.

Pretty soon the number will be over 300, then 400, then 500...

Anyone know how many soldiers the British lost when they occupied Iraq all those years ago?

3. 143 probably was their figure for COMBAT deaths
Sometimes they distinguish "hostile" deaths (i.e., combat) from non-hostile deaths (i.e. accidents or friendly fire). Personally, I think it's a rather absurd distinction.

In the below story, CNN cites the current total as 242 (although they always seem to lag behind other reports of deaths by one soldier):

http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/07/26/sprj.irq.main/index.html

I recommend checking out their link "Interactive" U.S. Deaths" for a chart that gives a breakdown by month.

But you're not alone in taking issue with the reporting of only combat deaths. Take a look at this article from Islamonline, "US Media Misleading Public on Iraq Casualties": http://www.islam-online.net/English/In_Depth/Iraq_Aftermath/2003/07/article_05.shtml

4. key word is "hostile fire"
Hostile Fire= that's the propaganda spin
They call the rest of the deaths something else...who knows what.
I guess suicide bombers and grenade launchers aren't technically "hostile fire".
The actual count is getting close to 250 deaths.
They are all dead because of the war.
If there had been no Iraq takeover they would all most likely all be alive.
So Hostile fire Schmostile fire-
Dead is dead.
Bush it's your fault.
You are personally responsible.
