2. i agree that he could quell disobedience
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 01:13 AM by OrAnarch
He helped quell tons of civil disobedience while fighting the innocent men and women in Vietnam. Till he apologizes for that, and other willing and knowing contributions to America's military machine (the manifestation of global corporate greed), I woulnd't so much as toss a dime or vote his way. Please Clark, wash your hands of the blood of innocents, shed for the powerful like Bush and Cheney, before running for president.

The political process demands comprimise; I know it sucks, but it's true. War sucks, but this is the real world we're talking about.

I'm a Deaner, and I don't like seeing Clark badmouthed like that.

How many voters would we attract on the kind of platform you suggest?

Im just so unnerved lately by the number of people on a "progressive" site just totally missing it. I gotta overstate my case to make an obvious point people like us should see.

You gonna start a thread on him?
You gonna start a thread on every nut job that called CSPAN,
or only the ones that suit your agenda of smearing Clark?

27. I make up nothing.
It is a fact that he served during wartime for the large part of his life, and hence, contributed to the American military machine, which wages unjust war in the name of coorporate profit. He does not apologize for doing this. It is a fact he willingly did and contributed towards the militaries victories. Have't you listended to his campaign at all? Thats his main point!

32. Missing something important
You fail to mention that civilians control the military not the other way around. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of previous administrations.

17. It is true that Clark was indicted by a SERBIAN
court for war crimes during the reign of Milosevic. I would think that that particular disctinction is a credit to anyone who received it.

31. Im not talking about indictments..
Im talking about his service in general. when America decided to atack foriegn nations without being provoked, and slaughtered many humans who were innocent, Clark did not put down his gun and go home. We willingly contributed toward the Means that were aimed at accomplishing, wether he was fully aware or not (he should be now and apologize), Ends which were in the name of corporate greed and power, rather than America.

39. Puh-leeze pruner, at least have the courage of your smeary convictions...
Your post is clearly using the CSPAN crackpot as a chance to launch a stealth attack on General Clark.

Maybe if you weren't such an outspoken Dean supporter your smear denial would have some credibility:

10. I heard that caller, too.
I heard him make the reference to quelling civil disobedience (the caller was speaking of the Iraqi insurgents). The caller did not go on to say that Clark was against free speech, though. The civil disobedience thing kinda trailed off....it was the end of his call and the last thing he said. That's how I remember it. The caller was sort of flustered and seeking for the right words to use...he was basically saying that he thought Clark would be able to handle the "uprising" in Iraq better than Bush & the other candidates, in his opinion.

11. This is insane pruner.
I guess I should start a thread about every single crack pot that calls in like the lady that said she supports Dean because his wife is Jewish. Or maybe I should start a thread about the contigent of "Dean supporters" with Confederate flags outside of the Debate auditorium in an attempt to label all of Dean's supporters?

Find something more productive to post about.

BTW I'm alerting your thread as imflammatory.

20. I couldn't disagree more.
This isn't inflamatory, it's perfectly fine to discuss. Why shouldn't we talk about the past and Clark's complicity with anti-free speech. If it's not true or he's released some statements to the contrary, please post them and then we can have a discussion.

It's also very interesting topic that some Americans would feel this way about wanting to vote for a candidate for such an odd reason.

21. "Old Turtle Eyes" would take care of civil disobedience like so....
And the thing about a turtle is he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, he doesn't even seem to be livin'... 'til he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'.

29. That's pretty funny, especially since it was Dean

who has called for "re-evaluating" civil liberties.

Dean supporters should not worry that he will be soft on civil disobedience.
