2. I guess I could include Gary Condit
or Barney Frank. Just trying to keep it simple.

3. Dean
I know I'll get flamed for this, but..........

I don't believe Dean can beat *

I'm afraid we are in for a letdown if Dean get's the nod. Yes, I'll vote for him, but the swing voters won't.

Just my $.02

4. George Will stated it best Sunday
Paraphrase him:

Gay marriage

Thinks you pay too little in taxes

Bad war

$200 million dollars to play this smear all across the midwest/south/near west/key states in the north.

piece of cake. Rove would love to see Governor Dean on the ticket.

5. They may think Dean will energize their base, but they're wrong
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 06:21 AM by BurtWorm
if they think what energizes their base will prevent people with misgivings about the war, fears about the deficit and the economy, anxiety about the insecurity bred by arrogant unilateralism, etc., from kicking their pathetic asses out of power in 2004. If it comes down to gay marriage vs. endless war, which do you think people will opt for? I don't know, myself, but I don't think it's an open-and-shut case, and the Bushists would be fools to fall into believing it.

One other thing to consider: if the Repubs are so eager to mix it up with Dean, why are they so persistently "warning" Dems not to run him?

22. Once they show the footage and pictures of Dean
the "raving lunatic" it is going to energize much more than the Republican base to vote against Dean.

26. Nice try.
How about building up your candidate of choice for once. This "tear down Dean" campaign is clearly out of date.

to counterpunch. There will be plenty to choose from.

to face - what are we doing here again - asking the Republicans for advice and listening to it for our candidates. I think not.

11. Hardly - is it yours?
bush prefers this, bush prefers that - we know he's a dictator and we're going to help him by listening to the Republican preferences. The lies from this administration are beyond the pale - anything they throw out there is "staged" for their advantage and we should ignore them and slap them down.

16. Carter preferred Reagan over Ford
He ended up getting both of them. He lost to the one he wanted and beat the one he didn't want.

13. Bush's fundraiser in Florida is fundraising for Dean!
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/columnists/sfl-cpol06dec06,0,4315209.column?coll=sfla-news-col

snip...
The newest supporter of former Gov. Howard Dean of
Vermont is super-lobbyist Ron Book, who is a host for a
Dean presidential campaign fund-raiser later this
month. Wait a minute! Isn't this the same Book who
raises money for President Bush and his baby brother,
Jeb? "This is money for the Democratic primary," Book
quickly points out. In other words, Dean now is running
only against Democrats, so any money Book raises will
not hurt Bush. ...

I wondered when this would start
this is the problem with Bush running uncontested for the nomination. His people can spend serious time and money crossing over and getting their preferred opponent nominated. Man, this is going to be tough.

17. That's your argument?
That Republicans must be giving Dean money, because what else can they be doing with it? I mean, at the very least try to back this up with something. That's like saying I must have a yacht, because what else would I do with my money. You could speculate anything.

19. It's amazing
the lengths some people will go to margiunalize what Dean is doing. If they want me to vote for THEIR guy if he wins the nomination, maybe they should stop trivializing what I'm doing for my guy now.

The amount of disprespect thrown around this board is staggering.

20. granted
..ok fair enough, I have no proof. It just seems like the kind of lowly * behaviour

I really like Dean, and respect what he has done for vermont (thats why I have him in my sig), he is just too risky for this election IMHO
I'd absolutely vote for him in different circumstances, but the majority of Americans don't share his completely justified anger

23. Clark is just as angry as Dean
I'm an undecided, and I really don't see this "Dean anger". Clark shows just as much outrage and compassion as Dean. That's why they're my top 2 guys right now, and I think either one can beat Bush.

18. Believe whatever you want

I don't believe Dean is that person..

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one, and some stink more than others. Frankly, I don't care what you believe, but thanks for sharing anyway.

that is why I belive Dean is making so much money... republicans are giving it to him.. think I'm too x files.. what else can they be doing with their 100's of millions of dollars

You know what? I'm giving to him. Here's the funny thing. Jerk supporters of other candidates have their "x-files" theories about what the republicans are doing in Dean's campaign. Meanwhile, I'm spending my time TALKING to people who are donating more than they can afford. People who, just like me, have made a special effort to get involved.

Yeah, maybe some republicans are giving him money. But I've given more than a couple hundred and I can personally account for several thousands of dollars from my own area. I know who's donating, and I know enough to believe that your "X-files" suspicions are just a product of your inability to grasp the fact that Dean has inspired us. It's fine. Believe what you want. No one is making you subscribe to a VALID perspective.
