1. Personally
I like Dean a lot better than Kerry, but it seems to me that Kerry would do better against Bush. His military experience and his political experience give him credibility in criticizing Bush few Democrats, Dean included, can match. But I'd still rather take my chances with Dean.

14. You should probably go have a good cry somewhere
because Clark can't catch fire, then come back when you're feeling stronger and maybe you can be more constructive. You're engaging in destructive behavior now. It's not going to help you, Clark, Kerry or anybody.

5. Let's face reality
You don't care who has a better chance of beating Bush? Well, I do care and I will do everything in my power to stop Bush. You should too.

6. Do you have a crystal ball I can borrow?
Because knowing the future is the only way to know who has the best chance of beating Bush. But what I do not care about is who Bush would rather face.

7. Your logic is wrong.
You equate "Bushco wants to face this opponent" with "Bushco will beat this opponent".

That's faulty thinking.

See ya

9. Yes, let's face reality.
The Carter administration was cheering when Reagan received the Republican nomination. Bush the elder was pretty much doing cartwheels when he discovered his democratic challenger was a southern governor with a reputation for womanizing. And so, in light of this, what exactly is your point?

15. Then stop helping him by tearing down a Democrat
who's not your first choice. If you want to stop Bush and you don't think Dean can, then explain why. Rationally. Please.

19. once again, ABB rears its ugly head
Instead of finding a candidate you think is good and sticking with that idea, you simply test the choices as being most likely to defeat Bush.

with that attitude the Dems lose and Bush wins

10. Number one priority should be beating Bush. Kerry or Clark can deliver.
Those who want to "remake the Democratic Party" are beginning to sound like Naderites.

11. are you saying it matters?
I'm not sure that it does. I think they'd like to tear apart any one of our candidates. They have basic, fear-mongering, propoganda that they're going to apply to whoever the candidate is.

They will rip apart whoever they need to. It won't be fun to watch.

That being said, there might actually be a strategy in putting someone up against this onslaught who the public doesn't know very well, hasn't heard of before too much, and therefore won't understand why Bush is so feverishly tearing apart.

Who knows. It'll be ugly, regardless.

17. Kerry will rally the base
because he really IS the base. Were it not for Dean, Kerry would be winning the New Hampshire polls with 40 plus percent.
40 percent of Dean's supporters describe themselves as liberal.
If Kerry is nominated he will solidly be supported by the base because he has represented that base solidly for his entire career.

Why hasn't he?

I like Kerry, but he hasn't been much of a "rallier".

20. He fears Kerry because he's run such a stellar campaign so far
And Kerry easily dispels the "elite new england liberal who's out of touch with america and votes in lockstep with ted kennedy" image so easily by riding around on a harley and mentioning that he was in vietnam evertime he opens his mouth.

22. polipundit tells you ....
that much of Dean's money has come from the Republicans who want Dean....because of many of his weaknesses........they have donated to Dean's campaign, hoping that the bandwagon would follow the money...which is exactly what has happened. But most will ignore any evidence of this, because they are about something other than beating Bush.

Gore to Endorse Dean

Al Gore is endorsing Howard Dean. Go, Dean, Go!

UPDATE: So why is Gore doing this? Quite simply, I think that he's letting his inner liberal come out and play. Now that Gore isn't running for anything, he can make crazy speeches and move his party ever-leftward without worrying about the consequences for his political career. Gore is finally free to say exactly what he wants. He doesn't have to blow smoke about "targeted tax cuts" any more. He can just call for "repealing all the Bush tax cuts" and raising taxes on everyone by trillions of dollars.

This is one time I'm actually glad Gore didn't just fade away after the 2000 election. Spending too much time with the insano-liberal folks at MoveOn.org seems to have infected Gore with the same affliction that's causing primary-voting Democrats to jump off the cliff.

AND:
A Reaganesque Victory?

The Bush re-election campaign may give new meaning to the word Reaganeque:
It's the eve of a presidential campaign. A conservative Republican is in the White House. Putting his faith in big tax cuts, he has weathered a recession, and the economy is looking bullish. A slew of Democratic candidates insist that too many people are still jobless, and that the tax cuts are sops to the rich.

But the Democrats spend much of their time sniping at one another, and seem poised to nominate a liberal Northerner who could lose the South. Meanwhile, the President's party is united, and the public sees him as a strong and likable leader.

Such was the political terrain in December 1983, 11 months before President Ronald Reagan won an overwhelming reelection victory.

And in December 2003, many election observers contend that the terrain is eerily similar for George W. Bush.

Bonus Quote of the Day

"Republicans have been contributing to Dean's campaign on the Internet."

-- John Kerry to a Rolling Stone interviewer. Congratulations, PoliPundit readers! You've gotten under his skin.

Still sticking with our Dean-nominating strategy, I now recommend holding your nose and donating to Kerry and Edwards so that they can take down Weasel Clark and remove the last hurdle to Dean's winning the nomination.
