What would be the motivation for the Saudi Royal Family to provide support for Al Qaeda? Aren't they considered to be infidels by Muslim extremists? Obviously they have strong financial ties to the US. I don’t understand their motivation. Anyone care to enlighten me?
1. I dont know but I think they would be aligned with Al Queda more than Sadd
Saddam though being more fundamelist muslims. I am not sure if they are considered extremeists or not but I trust that Saudi Arabia if it had any connections to 9/11 it would be higher than Iraq's.
that the Wahhabists condemed the Saudi Royal family as basically sell-outs to the West. I know the people of Saudi Arabia have motive to want to destroy the US but the Royal Family???
Have not reviewed all of the material provided in your links... maybe the answer is there.
In the 1980's, after Russia invaded Afghanistan many countries supported the efforts of the mujahideen to defeat the Russians. In 1990, after the Russians left Afghanistan the Saudi Royal Family rejected the concept of these same folks using their skills to defeat Saddam Hussein's regime and opted to have the task done by the US instead.
This caused a huge rift between their native son Usama and the Royals. The rift was so large that the Royals placed Usama bin Laden under house arrest and subsequently put a contract out for his immediate removal which still stands to this day. They have spent the last thirteen years attempting to kill him in various covert efforts.
I think the Kingdom of Saud encouraged the radical schools to deflect attention away from the obscene wealth of the ruling families. It was a way of channeling the frustration of the have-nots away from the princes and redirected to outside "infidels".
Very much, IMHO, as to how Christian fundementalists/Republicans redirect the ignorant poor away from those that screw this class of people by demonizing the liberal left.
