(I know, that would take MAJOR magic) which Dem candidate would you support, and does that represent a change from whom you support right now?

1. I'd support Dean
who is exactly who I am supporting now. My main reason for supporting Dean is, and always has been, his health care program.

5. To be "fair and balanced"
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 02:16 PM by BlueEyedSon
everytime someone says that (and I saw it on CSPAN this AM) I would like to remind them that Dean plans to raise taxes on the rich MORE (assuming a rollback of Bush tax cuts).

There is no free lunch. However when things are run properly, you get something for your money. How much was that Bush middle-class tax cut, $600? Would you give it back for better heathcare, better schools, lower local taxes, etc.?

The choice is taxes vs. services. I make at least an average wage and I say ROLL THAT GIVEAWAY TO THE SUPER-RICH BACK.

3. Kucinich, and no
Kucinich is not only right about war, in general, he's right about a whole lot of things. He's right about the jobs fleeing America. He's right about the richest nation in the world OWING its people healthcare. He's right about treating all American citizens the same. The fact that he was right about the Iraq war, long before anyone else was, is just another reason to stick with him.

4. No change.
...which Dem candidate would you support, and does that represent a change from whom you support right now?

Exactly the same here. I'm looking for a candidate that will make the U.S. one equal member of a community of nations. If we are seen as leaders, it should be from force of our example, not the example of our force.

6. The war issue put Dean (policy-wise) into the forefront.
No question that his campaign's use of the internet/grassroots has really pumped up his numbers.

Dean is quite moderate on most other non-Iraq issues. Arguably Kerry is more liberal (while still on this side of "electability") but the IWR is a real problem for him. Iraq will go down in history as the mistake that sunk this administration (and for a time, the whole US).

Even Lieberman wouldn't look like such a HUGE loser to me if Iraq was off the table. After all I voted for his ticket in 2000.....
