Want Dem Unity? Unite Against Bush!
If you have not yet decided on a Dem candidate, make a choice now.

Go ahead, do it! :) It's liberating!

The voting begins in a few short weeks, what else do you need to know about the candidates? Flip a coin if you have to, change your mind later if you like, but just get off the fence for now. Barring new information that comes up from this point, we should be able to judge from the pool of candidates and ride the rap.

Now, give others the benefit of the doubt that they can chose a candidate that reflects their values just as well as can you. Let's stop trying to convince each other about our favorites, or knocking your least favorites. Align yourself, and forget about the alignment of others.

THEN, when you can accept your own decision, and respect the decisions of others, turn you partisanship outward instead of in, and lets unite the Dem party -- not behind Dem Candidate "X" -- but against Republican candidate Bush.

I've chosen my candidate, and doubt I'll change my mind. I intend to refrain from primary bantering from this point forward, pushing my choice on others, or bashing your choice.

From this moment, I will bash only Bush, and I will support only broad Dem policies. I hope you'll join me, united against Bush. :)

Imagine millions of Dem voices, each unique, each with it's own tone and caliber, but all joined in the harmony of Bush opposition.

Herd of cats? Not this time.

We are the lions den.

1. Roar!
I do still reserve the right to read informative threads on different candidate's positions, so that I'll have the information at my fingertips if that person becomes the nominee.

But I agree that what we need to do is work on ways to bring the truth about Bush to the people. As Harry S Truman said when a supporter yelled, "Give 'em hell, Harry!"---"I don't give 'em hell. I just tell the truth on them and it feels like hell!"

4. Damn straight! ROAR! lol!
Of course, read everything. Anything. I'm not about closing your mind, I'm about opening the door to a little unity, and until we pick a standard bearer, the best we can do, IMO, is unite behind a cause.

This year, the cause is a given...

Lose the Bush!

3. I've chosen my candidate, and General and I hate this little Civil
War that's going on here at DU. I'm just not ready to do what Al Gore said yesterday and fall in behind General "Burnside" Dean and march up the long slope outside Fredericksburg be slaughtered.

5. We need to confront Bush, not Gore
You've made your choice, so has Gore. Now let it be...

It's Bush we have to worry about, not Al Gore.

Bush.

6. The problem with uniting against Bush
is that the entire crop of candidates spends way too much time in the debates, for example, going after Bush. Of coure, the moderators encourage this.

As a result, the public isn't hearing enough positive message yet from anyone. Unfortunately, this tends to sway voters in a negative way.

7. This is where we come in
I have my candidate's signs on my car and a sheaf of position papers at the ready. I listen to people, listen for what concerns them. And there are times when I know my candidate has said something that will answer their concerns, and I tell them about it. I've got my doctor seriously thinking of voting for my candidate(and she's a Republican!) because of his health care plan, which I spelled out in detail to her. I've been talking with small businessmen about my candidate's initiatives for reviving small towns' Main Streets and local businesses.

I'm sure other DUers are doing the same thing. If not, I'd encourage you to try it. This is one reason I want to know as much as possible about ALL the candidate's positions. If I find a person supporting ANY Democratic candidate, I want to let them know what I find good about their candidate and to encourage them to talk with others.

9. With 9 candidates unity means a second or even last choice
but the time to stop ripping ourselves apart is now.
Beat Bush, not the other candidate.
