New Maryland Poll - Dean over Bush
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- More than half of Marylanders continue to approve of the job done by Gov. Robert Ehrlich while President George W. Bush's standing has improved slightly over the last four months, according to a poll to be released Wednesday.

The poll by Annapolis-based Gonzales Research and Marketing Strategies also showed Marylanders disapprove of the president's handling of the war in Iraq by a 48 percent to 40 percent margin.

And even though Bush's precipitous slide in job approval rating has ended, Democrat Howard Dean was favored over Bush. When asked who they would support in next year's presidential race, 48 percent chose Dean and 41 percent supported Bush. In a Gonzales poll in August, the two were tied.

Asked about Bush's job performance, 47 percent approved, up from 43 percent in August, and 46 percent disapproved, down from 48 percent in August. Asked if "it was worth going to war with Iraq, or not," 36 percent said "yes" and 51 percent said "no."

more

The poll of 806 registered voters was taken Dec. 3 through Dec. 7 and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.

1. the more people find out about Dean
Edited on Wed Dec-10-03 02:54 PM by CMT
the better he does. And the article says that Gephardt and Lieberman are "almost even" against Bush indicating that Dean is running best against Bush in Maryland--a border state.

10. yeah
but he is running better according to this poll than any other democrat at this time. Also, Gore was behind in NJ according to Quinnipiac polling at this time in 1999 and he won that state by 14-points.

32. You might be able to separate the positives, negs, and neuts,
but you only report the negs with regard to Dean.

Face it, you want to affect the outcome by using negative comments about a certain candidate.

Thank you for your leadership. What would we do without you?

Great the 2 dems no smart strategists think have had a chance at the nomination for months, Lieberman and Gephardt.

at the Florida Democratic convention. They wouldn't let us have a straw poll, but Dean was the clear, hands down favorite.

This stuff needs to be reported more to slam the conservative dolts that keep repeating their mantra that Dean can't beat Bush. More Americans need to know that Bush is beatable.

27. As one of the "dolts" who thinks Dean will lose big to Bush and

fervently hopes we Dems do not nominate him, I have a question for you.

Which is most important to you? You may choose only one.

a. to have Dean nominated.

b. to beat Bush.

There is no c or d. I'll acknowledge that it's possible for a and b to both occur. What I'm asking you is to indicate which is most important to you, assuming that only one of these choices can happen. Is it a or b?

it's very, very, very stupid to assume only one of those choices can happen because you're buying into the meme that Dean is unelectable.
