1. Theirs is a win at all costs mentality.
Screw the opposition and to hell with how it looks. The ends justify the means. Others here would put it more eloquently, but this is what it boils down to.

3. You are exactly right
They are so self absorbed that they don't care if they are hypocrits. They do whatever it takes to advance themselves, and to hell with everyone else.

However, if you do anything that they don't like, even if it doesnt really affect them, holy shit are you going to hear about it.

Once again, this comes back to being extremely self absorbed.

These people would sell their mothers for a couple of bucks and a good stock tip.

practice hypocrisy, mendacity, and reichousness with virtually every breath taken.

14. Stan Goff explains it like this:
The Republican party is now the party of the White Supremacists. They have one overriding goal: to make sure the White People succeed, and everybody else is on their own.

That alone is reason enough for their behavior. They are arrogant, hypocritical liars.

16. It isn't hypocrisy. It's seduction.
Up at the top where the Wizard works it all, they could give a flying fuck about God, country, social issues, the economy, race issues, abortion, life, death or any fucking concern of yours in between.

It is SOLELY about control and domination.

While I am NO Ayn Rand fan she does speak of the archtypes of the Witch Doctors (those who commit thought crimes...for the purposes of this conversation, racists, those appealing to religious values, those religiously free marketeers) and the Attila's..those whose crimes are more visibly apparent. The Attila doesn't get anywhere without the Witch Doctor because Attila needs the Witch Doctor to rationalize it all.

In fact, this is why I am no Ayn Rand fan. She created and fostered that which she claimed to repel by naming some of the most seductive characters who have written and propagandized on behalf of the right wing, her "intellectual heirs."

17. you have it backwards, they are rightwing because they are hypocrites
its merely a matter of no compassion and a willingness to say and do anything that gets them what they want.

the GOP and the right wing in general, who have as an over-arching principle a will to power, is the best avenue to them for getting what they want.

these folks are not immoral, they are a-moral.

18. Hypocrisy is a form of selfishness; conservatism is selfishness and fear
Conservatism is selfishness and fear of change.

Hypocrisy is based on privilege; the hypocrite feels above others, and therefore has the natural right to hold others to any standards he/she pleases, while not feeling obligated to do so in return. The pronouncement of superiority takes many forms, but it's basically the same, whether it's a Professor hiding behind degrees and expecting his/her words to be given greater weight, while marginalizing those not so enthroned, or some backwoods white supremacist presuming greater rights due to a perceived racial superiority. It's the same thing: a version of selfishness.

19. People on the right don't have exclusive rights to hypocrisy
The left has their fair share of exhibiting this same behavior. The pro lifers and anti-gay people on the right as a group don't behave any worse than PETA or radical anti-gun people on the left. The issues are different but the behavior is essentially the same, including an unwillingness to so much as hear, let alone respect opposing views. Both parties have their radical wings who exhibit their share of hypocrisy.
