Campaign Finance Reform Affirmed By SCOTUS, And GD Barely Notices !!!
Did a search to see what GD's response to this news was.

3 friggin replies.

Man, this place has lost all perspective. We used to have lengthy threads on just this issue in GD, but apparently, no more.

Damn, when a Dem candidate finally becomes the nominee, will GD become a ghost town, or a wailing wall???

Amazing, a landmark political decision gets short shrift on a well known political message board.

Well... I for one am happy about the decision. You???

1. Oh yeah
I was kinda surprised when I didn't see anything on here about it after hearing the news. Any ideas what the Bushies are going to do to get around that?

3. Maybe it doesn't belong in GD
We do have topical forums, you know.

6. Yeah, I Know...
But this USED to be the stuff of GD. It was this type of story that got the juices flowing. I realize there are topical forums, but if Campaign Finance Reform surviving the Supreme Court as we were all told ad nauseum that it would not...

If that doesn't belong in GD, then what the hell does?

GD has just become the self immolating candidate snake-pit???

Is that it?

Man...

Here's the link to the thread: Supreme Court Upholds Campaign Finance Reform!

Thanks for trying to bring this issue to wider attention.

EDIT: To be fair, it looks like the LBN thread(s) on this received a fair amount of response. :-)

5. When I Heard The News On My Car Radio This Morning...
I couldn't wait to get to my computer to hear all the pithy thoughts I just knew would be filling the DU boards. Turned on the TV, got more Michael Jackson. Turned on DU, went to GD, and got Dean\Clark\Kerry Dean\Clark\Kerry Dean\Clark\Kerry Dean\Clark\Kerry Dean\Clark\Kerry Dean\Clark\Kerry.

I know that LBN had the story, but I'd have thought that GD would have several interesting discussions of the implications of the ruling. Even a discussion on Ms. O'Connor, who is starting to look pretty good to me of late. But no, it's a candidate bitchfest with all the trimmings.

Ah, for the good old days. (Showing my age I guess.)

14. It's only a half-step
and not a helpful one in many ways. :^(

"WASHINGTON - December 10 - While upholding restrictions on soft money and political advertising, the Supreme Court's failure today to strike down McCain-Feingold's radical increases in hard money contribution limits ensures that wealthy donors will continue to strongly influence who runs for office and who wins elections in the United States, according to the organizational plaintiffs in the Adams v. FEC case that challenged these increases. "
