What a futile exercise of self-flagellation not seen in a long time...

I can understand that people want their candidate to be the chosen one. However, it's been a long time since the judgement here on DU has been so terrible. To listen to many posters, one would think that Bush is better than Howard Dean, Wes Clark, or John Kerry. Only one of them is good enough to beat George Bush, according to who is supporting whom? Why don't you just surrender to Bush and the Republicans right now. Step back from your computer and apologize to your Republican brethren for doubting the genius of Dubya and Rove. Why even bother writing, marching, supporting, or voting for anyone of the Democrats because they all suck. Only your candidate is good enough to beat Dubya. Why can't all the fools see the truth? Why were you gifted with such political foresight while everyone else was slighted with the gift? Stand in a circle like a bunch of morons and start firing. But you are too intelligent to do that. You would rather divide and conquer. I'm amazed at the brilliance.

...which is really, REALLY unfortunate. It is amusing to see how many people are making an effort to be civil in the midst of this chaos. These are the true fighters--the ones who will do anything to ensure Bush is not re-elected. Hats off to all of you!

you've been in the thick of things and on GD a lot more than I have lately, BUT...

people get very dedicated to their candidates and very defensive. Nobody here thinks they all suck. There have been some moronic comments (I know, I've made some) but I don't think we need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Divide and conquer? Not even an issue. I've never come across anyone who's not ABB.

I like the banter, the debating (even when it gets a little silly) because I always learn something. And when it gets really stupid on a thread, well, you can always just move on...

As a Canadian, I just can't believe the level of stupidity on this board. No wonder Democrats are losing all the time in the US. Makes me proud of our political system here.
