Why the strange lack of "passion" among Dems on Sunday talk shows?
It always strikes me that Graham, Pelosi, Kerry, et. al. seem afraid to show any physical or vocal passion in their outrage regarding the Shrubbites' war in Iraq, cover up of the 9/11 attacks, etc.

They seem overly prepared to remain calm and media-friendly at all times. I think this is a mistake. I'm not advocating out-of-control hysteria or ranting, but if one is genuinely outraged, then it is going to be reflected in one's demeanor. I don't see it in our Dems on television, and I think it undercuts their believability.

If I truly believe that the administration is covering up for those who backed the 9/11 perpetrators, I am not going to be so calm and sedate in expressing that...it doesn't make sense to me; nor do I think it is wise media strategy.

1. maybe those people just don't communicate in that fashion...
they are simply calmer folk than that.

Should they play-act?

2. Because
someone might call them a <gasp> LIBERAL!!

Instead of defining what it means to be a liberal, instead of defining the issues, instead of setting a clear agenda, instead of pointing out the differences between the Dems and the Pukes, they prefer to smile and bow and nod and rubberstamp and fellate and let the Pukes set the definitions and set the agendas.

That's why I'm leaning heavily towards Dean.

3. maybe it's because
we've allowed the right to frame our arguments and our behavior for so long they aren't sure how to break out. They're all so afraid of being called "liberals" and "left wingers" that they use great caution.

If they had all risen, en masse when the questioning of Democratic patriotism occurred after 9/11 - and said - SCREW YOU GUYS - we'd be in a much better position.

They need to grow some brass ovaries - quick.

4. because
with the exception of dean, democrats as a whole are a bunch of p*ssies... that's why if dean doesn't get the nomination, it' pretty much assured we'll lose...

then again, maybe that's what needs to happen... maybe we, as a party need to sink even lower, until we realize what's happening, and really wake up and FIGHT BACK

5. I've been waiting for the rest of the "Dems to wake up
and really fight back" and I don't know what else it's going to take?

That's one of the main reasons I've been attracted to Guv Dean because he is fighting for us. That's one of the things I liked about what Gore said when he campaigned that he would fght for us. I've have no doubt that he would have without the coup.

The Dems in Congress have been a somnolent bunch over the last 3 years. And they lost me.

6. Or maybe it's because we are so used to Repuke ranting and screaming,
Court TV, and Survivor that normal discourse has started to sound too tame. It's not the Dem's fault -- it's the media's fault, and the people's fault, for not recognizing that it's not the Dems who are too boring -- it's the public that has become too manic.

7. I think they need to be better informed....
Perhaps they should have DU on their "must-read" list? At least, they would have their talking points in order...

8. I don't get it . . . this is the PERFECT time to attack Bush.
He's a little (a lot?) wobbly right now. We need to keep him off balance and off message. They should have gone for his jugular this morning. They are too passive and I don't know why.
