veganwitch's weekly R-turned-D Dad update
I talked with my dad last night and we talked about the debate.

He said Kucinich did a really good job. Edwards came off a Southern Baptist Minister. Gephardt looks like he's wasting away, physically-pale and pastey. He also liked Al Sharpton's barb against ted koppel.

and then he came out this this gem.

"He's just evil. They need to get rid of him. He's evil."

Who was he talking about? Joe Lieberman! I had to laugh. He also mentioned that his head looke 6.5x too big for his head.

And then i almost cried. hes looking for another job (hes got two hot leads he told me) and i had to help him with his resume. it was very depressing that here i am, 23 year old college graduate, helping my 54 year old dad find a new job because this economy sucks so bad. he works retail and has 27 years experience in the home improvement field but retail doesnt want experience, they want warm bodies and hes making less money that someone my age just starting.

until next week.

2. Good luck to your dad
It's a hard one but I'm sure he's been through this a time or two. Speaking as someone who's been through the job mill many times--experience makes you pretty tough to these kinds of things.

My Repub Dad (83 yrs) has just sworn off Bush too. These are all good signs.

3. I hope he can find a good job soon.
It breaks my heart to see people of experience scrambling to get by. There's such an emphasis on hiring younger workers (the better to pay them less, I guess). I would prefer to hire experienced people, but I don't make the hiring decisions around here.

Anyway, we're pulling for your father, veganwitch!
