Calling all truth seekers!

It seems that AnShell Media could squander a golden opportunity to hire Mike Malloy. According to Malloy, he has not been approached by AnShell. Let's contact them and flood their email box calling for them to hire him once IEAmerica tanks. I have even started a petition.

I haven't listened to him since the ridiculous "Mission Accomplished" statement that Bush made on the aircraft carrier.

I never dedicated anything he has said to permanent memory. So I am unable to give you quotes. That is another reason to not want him as a representative voice for liberalism.

Thom Hartmann is a better radio personality. He doesn't come off as a screaming idiot.

It's about the vitriol, lack of facts, lack of being able to back up your screed, and overall hostility.

I say he sucks (I guess someone that is overly sensitive might consider it vitriol, I was just trying to be concise.)

I think he's a damn poor voice. I would prefer to have someone like Thom Hartmann who doesn't freak the fuck out as a part of his schtick. If that makes me a vitriolic, hate filled Freeper. I guess I'm on the wrong board.

I'd also love to see Colin McEnroe on the network, too - pretty liberal, smart and funny on WTIC AM 1080 in Hartford.

I wish his show were on the Internet. He's great.

I personally think individual communications have more clout. But I support anything like the petition which will get them to consider putting Malloy on.

I signed but.. the fact that Malloy hasn't been brought on board for a network that won't start until next March or April isn't too shocking. How about Guy James,Randi Rhodes??

I've listened to Malloy's show and I like it. Alot.

If this new radio network is going to succeed, they need to fight the neocons on their own level. As someone that used to work on-air in commercial radio, I feel it is very important for AnShell to hire qualified people, and not just "names". Can Janeane Garofalo do radio? For three hours a day, five days a week? Can she engage callers? Get people to tune in? We don't know. Radio is more than just a soapbox.

They need real talk-show hosts, ones that can keep people tuned in for at least part of a three-hour show. They need excitement. That's what Rush realized, and look where he is today (though I think he's the scum of the earth).

So Mike gets a little outrageous and flashy. This new network NEEDS that. That is what gets the sheeple to tune in. If you want 100% hard news and dull facts, with light commentary, listen to NPR. If you want entertainment talk, listen to commercial talk radio.

IF they want to fight the right-wing on their own turf, and be successful at it, they must master their game. Sorry, but it's reality.

Strictly speaking in a technical sense, as to his radio abilities, the guy is VERY weak. No way will they put this kind of $$$ into this project and then turn around and hire an amateur sounding 4th stringer like Mike Malloy. Sorry, just my opinion.

If so, it is the kind of "poor" that had his show #1 in its time slot (9 PM to Midnight) when he was in Chicago on WLS-AM.

I'll take that kind of poor over whatever you think of as "professional" each and every time.

We have Sirrius satellite radio and listening to Mike Malloy has preserved our sanity to a great extent through the last year. Hope this petition helps get the message out that we Dems need our own voice in the media!

I agree with your conclusion. That's why the poster has no credibility. Are all Mike's opinions correct? Of course not. But he's a heck of a lot more informed than most and isn't afraid to take on the administration. Do we really need more polite accomodationists to help with our insomnia? This country needs to wake up, and without a clear and defining voice on the left we can just forget it.

Mike Malloy is just one voice, but a voice that deserves to be heard. Last time I checked there weren't any 24hr talk show hosts out there so there's plenty of room for the high minded discourse you're most comfortable with (mixed with Al Franken and whoever) for the other 21 hours. What's embarrasing isn't that people get "piled on" for not supporting their arguments but that someone expects a free pass when criticizing and not backing it up with facts.

We know what fails. It's time for a bold step to counter the misinformation that 90% of the American public are subjected to daily. Sign the petition.
