Let's take a flame break and laugh/smile at these tidbits
This PM was sent to me by a hardcore marine from a different site. We've had run-ins and he's said some pretty nasty pro-war stuff:

"No problem Mark. I know I have spouted off like a Neanderthal before about this whole situation and I apologize. It's a tough situation for us all no matter what our opinions are about the "war".

I have thought about sending you an email to let you know that my views are beginning to change, not only about Iraq but about the President as well.

When the war started I was glued to the events and in full support of what we we're doing. Of course it had more to do with my opinions that if we are going to go to war we have to be in full support.

Now it's not the same, and I think perhaps the whole sitaution was more politically driven than our national security. At the beginning, I looked at all the anti war protesters as being anti patriotic. Never once thought about what would occur down the road. And now I feel that we are in a situation that we can not get out of without serious effect to our representation in the world community.

I'm tired of every time Bush speaks he says the same bogus "freedom" and "liberty" terroist speech. It no longer is about terroism but about invasion of states. I saw an interview with Bush on the BBC when he was in England and he was so pathetic spewing the same crap. He is a mutt when it comes to representing our country. We need a leader that is going to adapt to the way the wordl feels about us now, not push the same agenda even after it is looking like a failure. He has no substance anymore.

To think that we were going to change Iraq into a little America was pure fantasy. The Iraqui people lives have been totally invaded and now we will begin to see an even more hatred than before. We are pushing the country into the hands of the Muslim extremist and they will end up having a government just like Iran. I seriously believe an extreme Muslim government will be more threatning to our safety than Saddam ever was.

I have no idea who can turn this around. I will not vote for Bush but I am not a big Howard Dean neither. I am confused and don't know who can turn this country around.

Anyways I have some tough decisions to make. Thanks for the ear Mark. Best wishes to you and your beautiful family this holdiay season."

Also listen to this piece on NPR regarding McCain/Feingold. I can practically see the thug squirming. This is pissing them off like crazy. Click here:

There are 3 stories but the one with Bobby Birchfield:
"Campaign Finance Plaintiffs' Attorney Sees Partial Victory"

is hillarious.

Peace, out, ya'll. ABB!!!

1. Thanks for posting that
I have an e-mail friend who's a self-described conservative who feels very much like this man does. It's a tragedy that they're only seeing it now, but the fact that they are responding to reality is a positive sign.

ABB, baby. We're going to win in 2004.

3. I think his mail illustrates
that Dean does need some kind of military cred going in. A lot of people like this guy think of Dean as a peacenik who has nothing but hippies supporting him. He needs to get Clark, Kerry or somebody else who's killed people on the ticket.

4. I have several Repub friends
who have told me they wished McCain would run again. They don't want to vote for a Dem but don't want to vote for Bush. When I asked what they would do if those are their only choices, 2 said they would skip the Pres election, one said vote Dem, and the others weren't sure.

Most of these R's consider themselves fiscal conservatives but social moderates or liberals.

2. Great letter -
I only have one Republican friend (I know many others, but this one's a friend) and he wants Bush out too. I get a lot fewer enraged emails too. Even Republicans can only take so much crap.

6. Is anyone else getting this turn of opinion?
I work with a bunch of capitalists, largely republican and before the war I argued against it, but since then with all the events concerning the war itself and the administrations policies I've had a few of these coworkers admit that it probably was a mistake to go to war and that they have serious doubts about gw....I love being right but this time I wish I was wrong.

8. This goes hand in hand with something posted yesterday here at DU.
give the Repubds an alternative that they can reasonably support....like a man with a lengthy record of service. That guys like fire fighters, marines and cops will be comfortable with as well as the struggling student and the woman trying to keep up with her bills and kids.
