Poll question: Due to the special nature of this election....
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 02:10 PM by usfbull2000
4 more years of Bush = The End of the World, :-) Should Dems unite now behind one candidate?

3. Dean poop
Dean people have been saying this for a LONG time, "we need to unite behind Dean" - even when he was behind in the polls. We have an election, I'll be voting in it.

7. Hey, I'm a Deanie
and I think we need to go through the primary process. Uniting behind someone now would cause a host of problems. We can unite after the nomination, because we'll know that the nominee was chosen by us, fair and square. I don't for a moment assume that Dean is a shoo-in. I think he's the best candidate this time, but I could be wrong. I want the votes of other democrats to either confirm my support of Dean or tell me I was wrong, and I need to back someone else. In the end, I will defer to the wisdom of democratic voters.

8. No
as long as we are able to pull together in the end. What concerns me about the primaries is the constant negativity.... thats the issue I see with it.
I ignored it for a while, rebelled against it for a while (I'll show you right?)... and finally it just gets to be paralyzing... and I'd bet alot of money its the same for others. I know I've done less than I did over the summer, this fall. Is this what people want?????? If they think that by calling my candidate a poopyhead it's gonna leave a good taste in my mouth, and inspire me to go out and work for their candidate they are VERY wrong.

9. Another Dean supporter here who voted no
The Democratic Party is doing something it should have done 2 years ago...have the damn conversation. Figuring out what we want and what we stand for is a very important part of the process.

Not only do we have the ability to bring this party back together again by talking about the problems of our recent past, but we get the advantage of suprise. The GOP is gloating right now because they assume we will be weaker rather than stronger once this process is over. If we are wise, we would use this to our advantage.

16. It is not simplistic, nor is it biased...
We can talk about issues, even though we don't support the same candidate.

19. More than 43?...probably not
Why would anyone even take the time to respond to a poll such as this? We haven't even had the first primary and we should now rally behind one candidate? Get real.

21. What's with the hostility?
I do not advocate either option in this poll. It is about what YOU think. What DU thinks. This is a major issue for Democrats right now. Don't believe me? Look here:

23. No it isn't
It is NOT a major issue for Democrats now or ever. Piss on the media for pretending that it is, and piss on Gore and his big mouth for at the very least seeming to make it an issue. Annointing is for FASCISTS. We still live in a democracy, such as it is, and I'll be God damned if ANYONE tries to take away my right to vote.

Ted Rall is obviously a supporter of Dean. He states his opinions as facts...specifically:

"Barring some unforeseeable
misstep, Gov. Howard Dean (news - web
sites) will be the Democratic nominee." WRONG

Pat Buchannan and Al Gore think so...who cares? Many of us DON"T think so.

"Dean is the only contender with the cash, charisma and
cajones to expel Generalissimo El Busho from the White House..." WRONG...those of us supporting other candidates certainly don't agree with this.

"What if the other Democratic candidates came together at a joint press
conference to announce that they were dropping out of the race to
endorse Dean?" And what if Dean called a press conference to announce that he was withdrawing and throwing his support to _____________ (fill in the candidate of your choice)?

"Patriots
must support the candidate with the best chance of defeating him,
whoever he is. That man is Howard Dean." Wrong again...that's why so many of us are supporting other candidates.

Just MHO...the Repubs would love to have Dean as the candidate because they know that he is beatable. My candidate has the ability to appeal to that vast group of moderate Repubs and Independents who would probably not even consider voting for any Dem....except this one. And it's NOT Dean!

I'll vote for the candidate that I choose in the primary. I'll vote for the nominee in November, 2004.

Tony and I have even set up a 'contingency fund' of a couple of hundred dollars to donate to cash-starved campaigns who seem to be likely to close up shop due to a lack of money.

We're Dean supporters, but we're Democrats first and foremost.
