MSNBC now pulling embedded reporters away from Braun, Kucinich, & Sharpton
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 05:00 PM by slinkerwink
those bastards!

edit: This is purely hearsay but if this is true, then we need to write letters----we should do a massive DU call of every member here to write letters to ABC and MSNBC.

So far, there's no links that support this. I retract my earlier statement.

13. maybe you heard ABC
Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 04:51 PM by goodhue
Which has been circulating for the last 24 hours and was originally noted in a Kucinich press release.

Until someone can confirm otherwise, I trust the MSNBC embeds are embedded away.

But this brings up an interesting point. The MSNBC embeds are well-known but I had never heard of an ABC embed until yesterday's news of pull-out. Any informed comments?

6. Motherfuckers!
We should implore the "major candidates" (not my term, but you know what I mean) to make a stink about this. The field certainly needs narrowing, but this is precisely how NOT to do it. This proves everyone's theories about the media trying to influence the outcome of the race --- what bullshit. What utter, complete bullshit.

10. I agree with you
that is a fabulous suggestion. Anyone involved with the other campaigns should write to them. WE will weed out our candidates when we vote. That vote will mean much less if the media has pre weeded it for us.

to do our own DU call to arms on this issue.

Edited on Thu Dec-11-03 05:11 PM by bearfartinthewoods
you are aware that there are and have been other people, even a dem, running for prez who have been aqlmost totally ignored don't you?

if you don't it's hardly a sin since they have been ignored.

the media is doing what the media does all the time, determine what is and isn't news <sigh>

Would they do this out of perverse solidarity with ABC?
And I liked the MSNBC embeds coverage. How sad.

9. Okay
Dean supporters + DU activists. You guys have pioneered the grassroots mobilization efforts. What can we do together that might positively impact media coverage heading into the next crucial months? Writing letters surely helps BUT we need some media coverage of our own -- the freepers killed the CBS "The Reagans". Can a DU + Dean + Clark + left blogosphere boycott threat of ABC, MSNBC, et al (as required) help.

Or, would we just damage our own candidates coverage chances? Would it still be worth it?

36. Democracy, still worth it?
It is a sad, sad day for the party and a sadder day for the democratic process.

Have we caught on to the fact that no votes have been cast? With all the calls for party unity, one would hope that there would be some unity in standing up against something as vindictive and biased as this. Isn't this how the DLC and their ilk wound up firmly in bed with the same brands of slime as the GOP? It's just one little compromise after another.

The party should take ABC & Ted to task. They should do the same with any other network that tries to subvert our voting rights by proxy. That's unity.

Thanks to all the DU folks who are doing something about it!

21. In the meantime, sign petition to tell ABC what you think . . .
Tell ABC what you think of their decision to pull the campaign embeds for Kucinich, Mosely-Braun and Sharpton. Tell them we DEMAND fair and balanced coverage of our candidates, and will not allow them to be stifled for not being "acceptable" to the media bigwigs.

35. Dean should publically renounce them
Dean has the mojo to get on TV to denounce the Corporate Media for marginalizing the other candidates and refusing to give equal time. That's consistent with Dean's message, and it will cement his position as the frontrunner.

32. but John
There is no news here. The poster has backed off any suggestion that MSNBC is doing any such thing. It is ABC, as you know, that did this yesterday. Let's stay focused on ABC.

Tell ABC what you think of their decision to pull the campaign embeds for Kucinich, Mosely-Braun and Sharpton. Tell them we DEMAND fair and balanced coverage of our candidates, and will not allow them to be stifled for not being "acceptable" to the media bigwigs.
