2. Great, another puff piece.
I seriously doubt 60 Minutes will even bring up Moore's tendency to twist facts.

3. I actually tire of that too...
...he's popular, got a lot of access to media, could do a really good job of speaking for us, and then tends to put a lot of cannon fodder for the right into his work. He could produce stuff that would really embarass the right-wingers, but remember, we are dealing with the kind of people who if they hear Rush Limbaugh debunk one fact will dismiss an entire work. And Moore ends up making that happen.

Farenheit 911 has the potential to be a great documentary, and I seriously hope he doesn't try some risky tactics in it that cause the whole thing to backfire.

4. I'd heard that one particular website
that was anti-Bowling for Columbine had been debunked by another site.
I never checked either of them out - any suggestions?

I haven't heard any good arguments against anything in that movie yet. Mostly lame stuff about the clothed dog and the juxtaposition of the Heston speech with the columbine incident.

6. You mean like the hardhitting way they expose the Bush administration?
Wait, they haven't done that, either.

Personally, I don't think Michael Moore distorts facts any more than any documentary maker would. He presents his point of view. This is how he views the problems we face. Documentaries are not factual, they are interpretations of facts, and artistic statements, in this case of Moore's political views.

Moore is a master at savagely mocking the powerful elite. I don't care whether you think he's twisting the truth. As long as it wrings the neck of some corporate asshole, I see it as a victory for workers.

Besides, he isn't twisting facts. Selfish stupid rich elites deserve to be mocked, targetted, and made as uncomfortable as possible. They are the enemy of most working Americans. That's no lie. Michael Moore speaks for the working class. Like it or not, he's our spokemen.

How can you listen to 3 years of the Ari Fliescher, Donald Rumsfeld, FAUX News Triumvirate spouting their version of reality and then have the nerve to accuse Moore of twisting facts? Go pick on our real enemies. They abound. On the Right.

8. MM makes centrists very uncomfortable
he doesn't pull any punches when he goes after the powerful and rich, and he doesn't mind pointing out how far right the center and many dems have swung, including Clinton.

9. Moore is great at making Funny parodys...

Horrible at documentarys.

The problem is he markets his parodays as documentarys, hence the valid critisms.

12. They were fantastic parodys
And they deserved an oscar for the paradoy of the his targets.

However a documentary is by its very nature a factual account of a subject.

Moore plays VERY fast and loose with the facts and is hardly balanced.

Thats why Bowling for Columbine (for example), is a great parody of gun culture, but hardly a documentary.

27. Perhaps,
But in truth he's preaching to the choir.

Those that are anti-gun tend to ignore Moores distortions and cheer him on.

Those are pro-gun see right through it and tend to be puzzled why others cant see the distortions.

At the end of the day not much really changes....Well except that Moore makes a bunch of money (and good for him on that)

16. I'm assuming they're talking about
his support for Nader. Which would be understandable, if people didn't ignore the fact that he stopped vocally supporting him after Nader refused to stop campaigning in swing states.

Well I suppose that some do oppose Moore because of his suppor for Nader.

Personally, I dont care who Moore supports because my voting decision is not based on what Moore opinion. I suspect that most of those who disagree with Moore feel the same way. But I could be wrong.

21. more insidious than that
these people don't like Moore because he had the UTTER TEMERITY to suggest that a fanatic gun religion seems to be a staple of American life

oh the shock and awe!

26. I agree with Moore on that..
Guns are a staple of American life, there are far more familys that own firearms than don't. The anti-gunners among us are a small, but vocal minority.

The biggest mistake the Democratic party made in the last 10 years was the gun control measures of 1994. That mistake cost the party the house and senate, finally the presidency when Gore lost his home state of Tenn due to his gun control stance. Someday I hope the Democratic pary recovers from that mistake, so far that day is in the future.

Now whether or not guns SHOULD be part and parcel to the American way of life is a different story...But for the interim, they are and those that attack it do so at the risk of being seen as an elitist, and out of touch with reality.

No point in adding more words. You've said it all. Most of the anti-Moore movement is just the NRA/Republicans doing their thing.

24. Michael Moore is great!
Beating up on the bad corporate citizens is his forte. I love the job he did on Roger Moore in "Roger and Me".
OMG This is great. The HMO that wouldn't pay for that guy's pancrease operation. Moore gets things done. That's why certain people fear him.
