Poll question: Attacking other candidates helps my candidate.
Simple question.

1. Not simple.
Do you mean MY candidate attacking other helps MY candidate? Or OTHER people's candidates attacking people helps MY guy?

Try not to read between the lines that aren't there. :hi:

3. I believe that other candidates attacking Dean is really helping
my candidate. He's not having to spend any money on it either....

6. It's double-entry bookkeeping.
Don't forget to debit his account from the bashings he gets from anti-Clark people.

Why don't they see that, though, and just stop, if they seriously want to HELP their candidate?

8. Cannot answer... difference between attack and critique
When legitimate questions on policy and actions/words are raised on an opposing candidate that can benefit one's candidate.

Bashing and on the other hand flaming responses to critique can sometimes hurt one's candidate at least on a forum such as DU.

9. True.
I'm referring to the latter--- the senseless stuff like the circumstances of your birth, what you thought 20 years ago as opposed to what you think today, etc.--- the mindless, ad hominem stuff.

... not one of the 3 bothered to explain why.

12. Supporting other candidates helps my candidate.
The more I talk about the things I like about the other candidates, the more that shows how much more I must like my candidate that I would choose to support him even tho there are so many great things about the others.

13. Of course it doesn't, and I won't do it!
When my candidate(s) get attacked, I get more LOYAL to them, and I suspect it's human nature to do that.

And the nastier and more repetitve the attacks, the more pissed off I get at the attacker AND their candidate (yeah, it's unfair, but again it's human nature). And for a day or two I want their candidate to get defeated, even though I DID like the guy, just to PISS OFF the attacker even more!

Think about it: Have you EVER switched candidates due to an attack on your favorite??? I doubt it.

15. That's Why "Debating" and Proseltytizing Don't Convert Anybody
Check out a thread with hundreds of posts pro'n'con whichever candidate: The pro siders provide tons of enlightening information and interpretations, yet the con side is ENTRENCHED, and soon enough the "discussion" deteriorates into name-calling.

Actually, supporters would better serve their cause by reaching out to potential voters outside of this choir instead of further antagonizing and alienating sections of this choir and making the eventual nominee a harder pill to swallow.

16. Helps Clark a lot
Because he is NOT attacking the other candidates, so it makes him look more classy.

17. That was how Pres Clinton went ahead in 1992.
Perot and Poppy bush were slugging it out over such odd things as Perot's accusation about his daughter's wedding being ruined by bush. Big Dog just stepped back, and did positive campaigning on his own, and look what happened!

But the one exception to all his, is that if a candidate is attacked, they MUST fight back!!! Just ask Dukakis...

20. And that would be why I support Clark.
I just don't seem him going on the attack against anyone against Bush. That doesn't mean he won't criticize other candidates or point out their weaknesses. The man just has class.
