"Spain and Poland blocked plans to give bigger countries, led by Germany and France, more voting power in a reformed system that would take greater account of population size."

2. Hmmm
well I know that the AEI has been going to Europe lately. Perle and others have been meeting with Berlusconi, the EU president, recently. I have a feeling they are trying to influence the politics of the continent.

Also, some major US Businesses have been trying to play with the EU too. The RIAA have been trying to pass a law in the EU that would make the music downloading illegal. On top of that, GE moved its headquarters from London to the Hague in order to be around more international diplomats. The American ambassador to the EU has gone on the record that some major US firms are trying to deregulate the government held industries there. GE is one of them.

6. I don't think the U.S. had to do anything . . .
. . . to get these countries to vote against Germany and France. There has been a lot of open opposition to Germany and France in the European Union recently for economic reasons -- every since the EU refused to impose "mandatory" sanctions against these two countries for violating some kind of EU rules for minimizing the size of each member's budget deficits.
