Kucinich second in polls..this is unbelievable
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 12:47 AM by Ksec
Check this out. I am floored over this. Go DK!

Kucinich is now, with a usual estimate of two percent support in most polls, where Clinton Was in the Months before the Start of the 1991 Primaries.

I was glad to see Kerry and Dean also slamming on Koppell for that sham of a debate, but Kucinich really let loose. His best debate performance to date!

9. Here's a graph to go with that

It's really not that unbelievable. His message is irresistable to working people and all the independent, unfreeped polls I've been tracking show him in the number 1 or 2 spot.

This is why we're suddenly seeing a big push from certain quarters for the "unelectables" to drop out of the race. The marginalization didn't work thanks to the internet and hard work of his supporters.

It is indeed very good news for Progressives.

32. Ah the call to drop out- what a joke
First the unelecatable meme, then the marginalization, and when that didn't work we got Koeppel asking him outright in the debates (oh I LOVED it when Dennis STOMPED HIM!) and then a slew of threads right here at DU to that effect. Here are two from GD today :)

saw this coming a while back.

What was that saying? You can fool some of the people all of the time... or something like that? ;)

I think the luck of the power elite is finally running out (again). They tried so hard to avoid getting set back by another FDR. They may still succeed. Heck they stole the last one, right?

People are getting fed up. They want health care. They want jobs. One candidate is able to deliver both, without having to whore out to do it.

23. Yes, scare tactics are effective
They play on our basest fears, and inspire us to react in the most atavistic way. Without thought, or consideration... only out of fear. It's so counterproductive. But when you're trying to manipulate, you can find few tactics that produce such successful results.

But really, think about it. You're only doing your party a favor. You're telling them that this selloutitis will not stand. You may have to face disappointment but you can still proudly vote against the shrub in the GE. :)

And if it goes well, and he gets the nom? You get to feel the pride and satisfaction of knowing you helped put that thorn in the shrub's side once the real fight begins. Watching these two men go head to head will be unbelievably satisfying.

Additionally, watching him show the country what our media has really sunk to will probably be even MORE gratifying. Who said you had to kiss big media a$$ to get elected? I for one would love to see them proved so very wrong. We saw the response ourselves. What should we believe? The fear mongerers or our own eyes?

These are the same people who have their lips so firmly stuck to Bush's ass that the only way to remove them is to burn them off with a cigarette. People are fed up, and much angrier than the media has led us to believe. I'm glad to see Kucinich jump like this. Gee, I guess you don't have to cow-tow to Bush in order to win over people in what should be the opposition party. Go figure? This is great news!

30. hehe, yes
Being a bit sarcastic there.

Oh and may I take this opportunity to suggest a couple of books, while we're on the topic of manipulating people and that sort of thing -- The Power Elite, by C. Wright Mills; and A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn.

Howard Zinn has endorsed Dennis Kucinich. Chomsky has come very close to doing the same. I don't think he does endorsements, but he's spoken quite well of him.

If anyone else has more info about Chomsky's comments, please share. As of yet I've not seen a cite for it.

I believe his run is the key. I mean, the far right is doin so well, 50% of the country doesn't vote, the left isn't really represented. I think Kucinich could blow a hole in the political system. I know that if any of the 'mainstream' candidates gets nominated and possibly elected, out amazingly corrupt system will keep turning.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I've been following this for the past few months, and Dennis who started pretty high, has gotten better each time I checked. I get email announcements from that oufit on a regular basis. I assume that the distribution list is skewed, as compared to the so-called "general population", but I see no reason to believe that this is "rigged" in any manner. What those numbers seem to say is that Dennis is appealing to an awful lot of people ... JUST AS SOON AS THEY SEE/HEAR HIM. He's riding below the CW radar, and that understandably INFURIATES the Punditocracy.

GO DENNIS, GO!!

Y'know, when you feel so comfortable in your heart and soul about someone who can represent you, rather than "settling", it just gives ya that "spark", y'know? It isn't often that someone comes along who does that to you, and when it happens, you enjoy it with every bit of yourself.

Hmmm, is that positive? ~~chortle~~

57. Schweet!
Freedom is that thing of allowing yourself to go with your feelings, instead of being locked in your head all the time.

Freedom is being stubborn enough to go with what you feel, rather than letting fear block it out.

Freedom is having the courage to go with your gut, rather than following the crowd because you're afraid of being "different".

And, as they say, sometimes "Freedom means nothing left to lose"...

To you, tlcandie!

66. Dennis Kucinich is the one to bring change to our corrupt system!
It is happening! I believe that people will be surprised at how he does in N.H. and Iowa.

Now if we can only get more people to vote for the candidate they agree with most. Instead of the ones the media told them to.

ITS THE PRIMARIES!! No matter who you vote for they are still a democrat!

:)
