kucinich abc scandal ignored in sunday shows
How suprising. Dean's campaign manager gets more air time than any of the other 8 candidates, Dean is going to run away with the nomination.

1. Dean has worked 24/7 for the past year.....
He has earned the attention. His campaign and effort to send *bush back to Crawford ....He has come into his own by being able to rally democrats most effectively. There will be only one...that is what happens in a race.

17. Yes, but he has not received even one vote yet. He has won no

primary, no nomination, yet the media favor him over all other candidates, as if our votes don't matter. It's the same crap as 2000, when Bush didn't want to count all the votes, except we haven't even gotten to vote yet. Those of us not supporting Dean resented Gore's tacit suggestion we should all get behind him now.

2. Well....Dean is the frontrunner,
so one might conclude that he would get more attention paid to him.

I think the frontrunner is a more news worthy topic than a third rate candidate that no one outside of Democratic circles has ever heard of.

4. he's the frontrunner yes..
But what im saying is that Dean's campaign manager.. Trippi is given more time on the air than all the other candidates. Not getting into how he became the frontrunner, but even with him being it. His campaign manager has more time than other candidates. Its ridiculous.

7. the merits of Kucinich's case
Kucinich, and by extension all of us, has a legitimate complaint without need to frame it in terms of the Dean campaign.

9. of course it has to be framed in terms of Dean.
Dean has had the opposite experience as Kucinich. He's a perfect example of what the media can do for a candidate they like.

12. not quite
You are really making the case that the issue is media influence upon the political process. One possible case for comparison and contrast is the Dean campaign, but nothing mandates that example in order to understand the meaning of ABC pulling their reporters from the liberals' campaigns or the implications of Koppel's dismissiveness toard Kucinich on television.

13. if you don't think dean's extra coverage
is directly related to his growing lead in the polls you are incredibly naive.

15. you are missing my point
Media coverage directly relates to every candidates standing. We shouldn't only talk about those the media hurts. Those who it helps are just as good examples. Its the same problem, we shouldn't ignore it when its something helpful.

16. Media people don't want to attack each other but Koppel should be

getting a lot of heat for the way he behaved at the debate. He wanted all the other candidates to acknowledge that Dean is #1 and spend time talking about the Gore endorsement , polls, and fund-raising instead of the issues that affect the country. He was very rude and I was delighted when the candidates stood up to him, with Kucinich being the one who really took him to task, with Kerry and Sharpton contributing some memorable lines as well.

As one critic said, it was a real shame that Koppel, with all his experience covering foreign affairs, did not use his knowledge to ask questions of the candidates that would have shown their level of understanding of foreign affairs.

Koppel behaved very unprofessionally, as did ABC when it removed "embedded" news producers from the Kucinich, Braun, and Sharpton campaigns the following day.

The media have chosen Dean, just as they chose Bush in 2000. But for all their promoting of Dean over the past year, I think they will "Gore" Dean and promote Bush in the general election campaign. Our media is far too closely aligned with other corporations and the government, which in turn is far too influenced by corporations.
