just a few questions about the coverage...
The coverage on CNN confuses me a bit...I don't doubt that it's Saddam...It sure looks like him...but I heard several different things this morning...

first they said that he was caught wearing a fake beard...then they show the video of him being looked at...and he still has the beard...then they show a picture of him shaven...why would he need to shave if he was wearing a fake beard...

Then they said that he was captured in a store...which changed to a "storeroom"...now they are saying that it's a rural farm house...

is it because there is so much info coming in that they can't keep their facts straight or what...?

1. CNN had the first break
on this side of the pond, anyway. The BBC seemed to be well ahead of them, along with some Arab sources.

Bush was apparently first informed late Saturday afternoon, by Rumsfeld.

So either they wanted the DNA test to be certain, despite the fact that Saddam was ID'd by some of his old minions already in custody, or the administration was -- not atypically -- trying to manage the news.

Nobody in the administration called their buddies at Fox News, though..."fair and balanced" was notably behind in reporting the story; more than half an hour after CNN's first reports did Fox finally say something -- and then they said Saddam was captured or killed...

so some of the minor confusion over details doesn't surprise me.

3. think back to the telephone game in grade school
they hear rumors.. someone says he could have been wearing a fake beard, then the next person says he was wearing a fake beard.

4. a few questions of my own here-- is anybody besides me having a problem
with this "capture"-- so conveniently timed after chimpy gets blasted for his thanksgiving turkey?

anybody else wondering why a man who supposedly had billions stashed away somewhere was hiding in a hole near his home town?

anybody else wondering where they got the DNA samples to compare? and how fast they managed to get it done? thought it took a couple of days, at least.

anybody else wondering why the picture in the nytimes looks like the person has an apple in his mouth?

just wondering-- brain does not work before coffee-- must go get some

5. On Link, they said that $750,000 US currency was found with him.
I'm suspicious because SH being found fits very conveniently with the plans made to tidy everything up for the elections. This big discovery might also knock that pesky investigation into Halliburton off the radar.

7. Oh yeah, inquiring minds want to know.
How does Rummy feel about his "friend," Saddam Hussein. Shaking hands w/ him, all the while this nasty dictator was torturing his own people? Nothing new here, move along.
