Was Saddam's DNA confirmed or not?
I keep hearing mixed statements. Paul Bremer said the DNA test was not yet performed. News articles make little or no reference except for statements that say that officials tried to keep the news a secret until the DNA was confirmed.

1.  CONFIRMATION OF DNA
has NOT BEEN DISCLOSED.......The smoking toothbrush has not been found. Before we get to the end, we have to start at the beginning with square one..........Saddam or not to Saddam...that is the question.

2. His former bodyguard suggested dental records
since he has 2 American bridges from 1981. Maybe that's what they were checking in the video - Saddam did seem to point to his jaw at one stage. The bridges could be duplicated, of course, if you wanted to produce a really good double.

They kept the story under wraps for several hours, which would seem to indicate they were waiting for something (if he was captured 1230pm EST, they could have made the American Sunday morning newspapers if they'd been quicker, which surely they would have wanted).

they held off on announcing the capture to confirm the DNA, per tv news report.
