why do we continue the myth of linking finding Saddam with succes in Iraq
Finding Saddam will probably have very little effect on the situation in Iraq. Whether or not we caught him has nothing to do with the merits of the war. People need to stop dignifying this idiotic rationale. Yes catching him makes the war more succesful, but succesful at what is the problem. Its not going to stop the Iraqi's from attacking the occupying army. Its not going to magically make the us invasion ok. Its not going to stop us handing over Iraq's infrastructure and resources to Bush's friends on the us tax payers tab. Its not going to magically make WMD appear. Its not going to change the fact that Bush lied to the public and congress to get the US into a war.

1. Dunno ... but I find it ironic
that we took Saddam from his underground prison only to put him in a more comfortable prison.

People saying "dean's done" or can bush be beaten after this. 90% of the threads are perpetuating it.

6. Repeat after me naysayer...
Our Leader is great. Our Leader is great. Our leader is great. Jokes aside, I fear that the sheeple will rally 'round the idiot over this news as if he captured Hussein himself, in between serving fake turkey of course. It should not, of course, for the thinking person, justify this huge blunder in any way.

7. I don't know, but it is really scary
Bush doesn't need millions in his war chest to get everybody on board without even thinking it through, that's for sure.

It works every time.

Good, clear-headed post, btw.

8. Who makes the case?
A guy who wasn't sure the world was better off without Saddam?? A guy with no foreign policy or military experience? A guy who went skiing during Vietnam? A guy who calls terrorists soldiers?

That's the point and has always been the point. A person with credentials can make this case better than a guy with none. And people will see this as evidence that Bush can execute the war on terror. We have to have someone who can make that case as well.

9. Precisely
You are exactly right and it is something that Bush should fear, if the little fuck was smart enough to.

What happens next shows the world if we are really Liberators or Occupiers, no more and no less. If the attacks stop, immediately and completely, it means we are in fact liberators who have saved the Iraqui people from an evil dictator.

If the attacks continue it means that we are an occupier who is being fought with all the ability available to a conqured people with few to no resources against the strongest military force ever concieved.

10. Mission Accomplished...now go home
I am not sure why the chicken little's here are so worried about Saddam...once the heady excitement of a Xmas time capture is forgotten, the Freepers, Iraqis and Bush supporters will now have 'closure'.
Parading Saddam around for the next few months will get stale pretty fast.
Now what?
His capture makes for less reason to stick around Iraq!

Now the real question:
Where will he be tried?
ICC? Iraq? US?

The Public loves a Mug Shot...after that they voted Clinton
