Kerry statement on Saddam
“This is a great day for U.S. forces, the Iraqi people, and the world. Capturing Saddam Hussein and ensuring that this brutal dictator will never return to power is an important step towards stabilizing Iraq for the Iraqis.

Let’s also be clear: Our problems in Iraq have not been caused by one man and this is a moment when the administration can and must launch a major effort to gain international support and win the peace. We need to share the burden, bring in other countries, and make it clear to the world that Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people.”

Today is another opportunity to invite the world into a post-Saddam Iraq and build the coalition to win the peace that we should have built to win the war.”

Kerry said he was wrong to trust Bush to handle the diplomacy and war correctly. Here he says it again. The problems in Iraq are not limited to Saddam Hussein, Bush STILL needs to handle the diplomacy correctly and build the coalition he PROMISED back in October. It was a mistake to trust him to do that. It STILL needs to be done.

3. So Kerry, in an obtuse manner, admits IWR was wrong.
That's a positive step. Thanks, John.

4. Well said!
And entirely consistent with all of his public statements on the Iraq situation and his vote on the IWR. Way to go JK!

7. exactly what he had been saying
the man knows what he is talking about. continues to be critical of bush's handling of the situation, without dismissing the problem.

8. He's on FAUX right now
He went on and on about how the US should treat Saddam and work within the rules and that all prisoners and thugs should be treated fairly. (Uh, Guantanamo prisoners anyone? We know the US breaking the Geneva convention... What is Kerry trying to gain when the (most of) people think everything's already just! He is obviously bashing Bush, and deservedly so.)

The FAUX commentator is now shoveling partisan crap back at him. :eyes: He's responding on a level tone, reminding people of lots of Bush* failures, with the FAUX cronie trying to deflect again and he's responding quite nicely.

10. Kerry is a Statesman.
Sen. Kerry expresses support for our armed forces and national interests, and demonstrates where we should be heading — world peace.
