What I am waiting for is the reaction of Russia, Germany, and France to the "questioning" of Saddam now that he's in custody. I wonder, really wonder, if they aren't going to demand that an international group of some kind to examine the guy. The only reason I say that is because they haven't swallowed any of the crap from the Bush* Administration so far, why would they eat up any of the "intelligence" that they publicize in regard to his capture, to WMDs, and all the rest of it. I don't think the capture of Saddam is the magic bullet that will put all the opposition to the war to rest. I think it opens up some new, interesting possibilities.
This event was inevitable. One way or another the guy just had to surface somewhere, dead or alive. No amount of crystal ball gazing today or tomorrow matters. What does matter is what happens in Iraq over the next few weeks. And that is purely up to the Iraqi people. I think we should just all relax and see how this spins out. Because it doesn't change the fact that now Saddam is truly "GONE" and our excuse for the occupation is gone with it.
