Calm Down! We're not screwed
Edited on Sun Dec-14-03 12:43 PM by mot78
1. We opposed this war not because Saddam was a bad guy, but because we didn't feel he was a strategic threat. If we still can't find WMDs, then * won't be abled to make this into a long term victory.

2. Violence, if Fedyeen violence continues on a similar scale, and if * really screws up in the rebuilding effort.

3. We haven't captured Bin Laden, and Afghanistan is still a mess.

Once again, WE'RE NOT SCREWED. THERE ARE STILL 11 MONTHS BEFORE THE ELECTIONS. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!! Even if we lose, can we stop complaining about how this will be the end of democracy and the death of the Democrats! We all hate *, but he's just a reckless dunder-head who gets us into trouble worldwide, not a self-thinking neo-Nazi. Things won't be as bad if we lose as people may think.

All of this said, I'm glad Saddam has been captured. Regardless of political affiliation, we should be glad to see tyrants captured, although the means to topple them weren't justified.

1. You are absolutely right. This had to happen, sooner or later. The only
thing that matters now is how the Iraqi people take it. It seems to me that there will be more demands that we get the hell out. Little Georgie's excuse is gone.

3. Enter New, Rising Stars...
Simon the Zealot advocated the viloent overthrow of Roman rule, but then chose to follow Jesus, laying down his sword.

With Saddamm captured, now look for a whole slew of Zealots bearing different Iraqi flags fighting for control of their land, attempting to violently overthrow US occupation.

Iraqi Factions who hated Saddamm will focus entirely on the US.

2. Today is not the defining moment of the general election.
Thanks for the reminder mot78! What a suprise to see all the "doom and gloom" threads in GD. I thought we were all more politically savvy than that...

4. Thank you
I was wondering at the lack of sanity being displayed here in GD this AM.
