Tribunal will look into war crimes going back to l968
including during the Iran-Iraq war. I heard this on the radio while coming from church so no link.

That should be very interesting, because we were helping him with his war crimes during that period, right ?

1. We backed him with intelligence and weapons. This line of questioning
won't be allowed to go too far because we were this guys biggest enabler.

All kinds of delightful things popping in my mind. The end of the BFEE and the Republican Party? Hmmm.

5. The US was behind Saddam from day 1
I found quite a few documents on various education and records sites about our support and steering of the governments of Iraq (as well as Iran) through the 50s and 60s. We helped install the Ba'ath party at the head of the government there when they were an insignificant band of thugs because it served our interests in the region. This has been our pattern all over the developing world as well as at home.

The trick is to develop just enough to churn out the cash flow. Give them enough to shut them up but not enough to really have any power. Better to keep them reliant on your largesse and crumbs thrown from the table. Better to tell them who their leaders will be, ones who serve the "right" interests.

6. Suppose they try him for invading Kuwait preemptively?
Bush is guilty of most of the things you could try Saddam for. If Bush is commander in chief he is behind all the innocent civilian deaths in Iraq since the war started. Also Bush 1 and Clinton for letting children die because of the embargo.
Ashcroft, Bush's appointee holds prisoners without charges, violates citizen's civil rights in the name of security.
Bush preemptively went into Iraq on false charges against UN wishes.
Bush has refused to honor UN resolutions calling it irrelevant.
